I recall going to the first game England played at the Stade de France in 1998, the ticket cost a fiver. That’s right £5.
I’ll not mention the £104 return ticket on Eurostar & the two nights accommodation in central Paris but still good value. Going back to the original point, the financial aspect is a purely personal one in terms of what the outlay means to the individual in terms of value and affordability, and what pleasure such an outlay means to you. Take my football club Rotherham United (I wish someone would - lol) a match ticket on a casual basis is £27 (personally I would want paying much more than that) At my age (concession) would cost about £20, which in the Championship was not bad but less so now. Now if it was the Titans I would gladly pay because they put their bodies on the line week in week out & get nothing like the money the footballers get.

An interesting piece Rothman2.
Out of interest what was the gate price last season (before you decided to leave N2N). Good luck in Nat 1.

Perhaps a visit to the Yorkshire Dales National Park is required before you opt to make a comment about "parking" and "grandstand" facilities at "no extra cost". At least you took the time to voice your thoughts which is exactly what this forum is about. What is your Nat 2 team may I ask??

Thank you for the good wishes. We have built a very strong squad this year on top of the (many) lads that have stayed put. How good? Will comment further after the Rosslyn Park opener. What are your lads’ prospects this year & are Leeds still the team to beat. Re pricing. See below extract from TitansRugby.com : Rotherham Titans are excited to be returning to National 1 following their promotion last season and you won’t want to miss a thing this year as the boys look to build on that success. With a slight increase of match day prices The cost of a standing season ticket, which includes the £25 membership fee is £130. |

A bit bizarre moaning about the grandstand and car park at Wharfedale when the club website promotes it as a benefit of the £12 ticket price.
Maybe become a member and lobby for improvements? |

I am always surprised by the number of people on RM who appear not to be Club Members but still choose to criticise their Club and others without actually knowing what has been said or done.
Rugby needs all the help it can get and membership of Clubs is the best way to give that help once you have stopped playing or coaching.

Coming from National 1,Moseley have kept prices the same I believe and where as they used to charge an extra £5 to sit in the stand it no longer applies

In terms of our chances this coming season, we only have one 1st team warm up game v Kendal this coming Saturday, so I have not seen any rugby so far. Blackburn cancelled on us and I believe we cancelled on Sedgeley Park. From what I hear Otley have been busy and boast quite a few new signings as do Leeds Tykes. Fylde will come back stronger I think, so who knows. Now if Wharfedale had followed what you guys have done re "a standing season ticket including membership at £130", that would have been brilliant and I would have jumped at it. Instead they have used smoke and mirrors to deflect attention away from the pay at the gate increase, launched numerous other "grades" of paying, so much so that they have taken in most of the RM population who have never been to the Avenue. Last season a season ticket with membership was around £175. Last season pay at the gate was £10 per game with 13 home league games. Easy maths and not taking into account my 28 mile round trip per game for the last 20+ years. I suppose I have a choice to make. Shut up and pay up (not happening), limit my attendance or look at other clubs far closer to home, perhaps not at the same standard/level and go and give them my full support. |

There is another option SG: pay up, for membership, thereby giving you the right to speak up (and vote) at AGMs + other members' forums, where it is likely you would gain insights/explanations about why club management is changing prices etc. You have taken the choice to remain on the outside, thereby limiting your choices to those you list. Seems surprising that a long-term supporter of a club would up sticks over a £26 rise in annual admission cost, but your prerogative, and if you do go elsewhere, I hope you'll be happy with the new relationship and find some greener grass...

It’s three quid in at Skipton, or at least it was last season. Decent ale too. Just remember sunglasses.

There must be a local ground in a dip where you can stand outside and watch for free isn't there?
Possibly worth a new thread?

It was never about just the cost of entry, it was really aimed at how poorly all of the early communications were handled and worded, you know, smoke and mirrors stuff. Since my original post on here the club has posted numerous clarifications and all is now abundantly clear. Yes, the price at the gate has increased £2 up to £12. But it was the dreadful way it was handled back then. |

And yet bizarrely your original post didn't mention anything about these poor communications although it did mention "all manner of new levels and types of membership recently introduced" which suggests the communication wasn't that bad although possibly members would have received even better communication? The man doth protest too much, methinks!
