Dan Cole is approaching his 500th senior appearance across all his clubs & internationals.

I'm trying to get a list/spreadsheet together of all those appearances. I have all the England/Saxons/A/tour games, all the Lions games and keep all the Tigers games myself.

I cannot find any stats from his time in the Championship with Bedford and 5 games for Nottingham. Does anyone keep any records they would be willing to send me over the relevant stuff? Or know where to point me to find it myself?

Looking for opponent, date, shirt number, venue, result & if he scored. Any help much appreciated.

Bedford Blues have a stats/historian person, what I would suggest is if you contact Ryan Robinson (Media Manager) maybe and he should be able to help or put you in touch with the person who can.

I remember (unless I was just dreaming) Cole having a decent turn of pace and scoring from about 22m out down the slope once!

Blues are going to Jersey for the weekend.

I remember Joe Marler running from the halfway line to score for Esher against London Scottish. Mind you he was very young at the time!

I Was at a game at the RAG some years back where Joe was on loan at Esher and don't recall a dash from halfway JZ ? (not to say it didn't happen).
Are you sure it wasn't the interception try, from half way, v Blaydon (2010 ish)?

For the ordinary purposes of conversation, a superficial knowledge of many things goes further than an intimacy with one or two.

I think the historic data on Statbunker is pretty reliable - it's the last 5 years or so where it's really patchy.

I think it is good for the league fixtures.
What it lacks are preseason outings and other friendly matches.
He probably played in a Mobbs Memorial match

Jackie Markham has provided the following info.

"We have a book titled 125 Years of the Blues which I had a hand in producing. It lists every player who has appeared since the year dot. Dan is listed as follows:

2006/07  22 appearances, 3 tries

2007/08  12 appearances, 1 try"

It was away at Waterloo and it was actually from about 40m out!

Definitely although I have no record of the year. It was Esher's second try of the game and the conversion put them 14-0 up after about fifteen minutes which was quite impressive as they only had the ball twice at that stage!

It may not be complete.

Statbunker just forever loads for me and never actually displays anything (eventually got a 524 error).

Agree it is usually my go to source for this period!

It was up when I posted the link.
But it does spend a lot of time down.
I should have captured the page.

I have found Statbunker  very unreliable in the past. I rather gave up on it after it continually listed the then Cinderford winger Sam Smith as the former Quins player with the same name which made me wonder how many other cases of mistaken identity there were.

It also had a habit of listing the same player in two different shirts on teamsheets and player histories were often obviously incomplete. In addition weeks of fixtures didn't appear and then some but not all were added. Haven't used it for several years now so it may have improved but I still wouldn't rely on it.

Don't want to knock it too much because I appreciate it must take a lot of work to record the information and like any system it is only as good as the data provided but I would caution against taking anything recorded there as gospel.

October 2006 - Waterloo v Bedford. Tom Varndell was on loan. Varndell came off injured early in the first half. This was after his previous appearance at Goldington Road where he scored a debut try v Exeter Chiefs. We never saw him again or the crutches he borrowed LOL

Shouldn't have put his foot  through the advertising board at G R.  top left corner. May have been a tv game ? He'd just scored and was very happy  with himself !!
