Thanks for the gracious comments regarding Coventry. I had to miss this match (and the return fixture next week) due to non-rugby commitments, but the last few matches, with a number of long-term injury-affected players returning are, I think, showing how Coventry could have played this season had luck been on their side

Hoping it's as good a game next week for the return fixture.

Yes I must say I thought Coventry would be a handful this season but they did seem to have one injury after another and they couldn’t get a settled team on the pitch - is it a coincidence that when they’ve got a more consistent squad each week they’ve started hitting their straps?. I think not. I know we won at Pirates in the last round but I’d be surprised if we overturned a 13 point deficit given what I saw today.

It's a funny old competition. Pirates won at Donny but were well beaten at The Mennaye (previously unbeaten at home all season). There are a lot of changes in personnel but Donny were really good at The Mennaye and I was surprised they came unstuck at home yesterday.

The QF ties are nicely-poised for the most part; big challenge for Ampthill to overcome a 10-pt handicap at Vallis Way, & Donny will have to raise their game away from home to extend their season, but neither of those causes is forlorn, and the other 2 games are on a knife-edge...

Crowds (according to TRP): Ampthill 550, Donny 610, Pirates 655, Hartpury 758. The lowest of those figures was exceeded by several Nat Lg sides, including Fylde (biggest of day outside Prem at 1,106), Sedgeley Pk, Cinderford, Bishops St, DMP, Rams & Taunton...

Cant see Donny turning around the 13 point deficit, they were surprisingly woeful yesterday. I guess the only thing is they surely cant be that bad again.  Can they?

The No 8 was involved in all three , nothing spectacular but each time got Jersey on the front foot and created fast ball.

Three top tries.
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.
