When have we ever been informed about the final decisions surrounding Prem 2, or been told who the final decision maker(s) are?
We haven't, and that's the point. None of us outside of the RFU hierarchy can answer those questions, and so none of us can say when/whether or not decisions will be made regarding next season, irrespective of what happens to Bill Sweeney. The RFU is a large organisation, and like many large organisation, elements of it will continue with business as usual, despite the potential for impending instability at the top. I think some decisions certainly have been made, because Sale FC put the following in their programme for the Moseley game:
"I confirm that Sale FC has had confirmation that our application to join the new Prem 2 League has not been successful. Our application was strong and well evidenced. However, after meeting with representatives from Prem 2 board to get feedback on why we have not been successful, we have our suspicions of who will be granted the one place available, until this announcement has been made, we will not comment any further" |

It's not unreasonable to suggest that some certainty is needed early in Jan by clubs who might be in Prem 2 for 25/26 - N1 clubs by, you'd hope, the time they play their 15th round of league action (out of 26) on 11/1, and the existing Champ clubs when they pick after a NY break on 17/18 Jan (for their 11th round of league games). But I'd be surprised if this detail actually does end up being provided by then...

I’m still not sure whether Conor O’Shea really knows his stuff but until now has been hamstrung by the bureaucracy or whether he has actually been captured by the RFU blob.

Just a few easily-found examples of Championship clubs and their
community work, but go on, you carry on with your holier-than-thou view
that any club above National 1 is somehow in league with the forces of
darkness. Wearing blinkers is much easier than giving credit to the
hard-working volunteers at all of these clubs. |

You are, of course, right. I am embarrassed at having written such an ill thought out, crass and just plain stupid post. I apologise unreservedly to all clubs at Levels 1 & 2 who I may have unwittingly insulted. The thrust of my post was meant to be my frustration at the imbalance of funding within the Championship. I'll engage brain in future.

Surprise surprise. I have a suspicion that the decision makers include Dr. Frankenstein and they really do aim to raise the dead.

In the Championship, probably. When did logic ever enter into this?

Thank you for the apologies, both personal & public. I just don’t see the point of sniping about other Champ clubs on issues which are a direct result of the RFU’s mismanagement of Level 2 since the Championship was created. Not having a salary cap isn’t Ealing’s fault. Dual registration isn’t the fault of Bedford, Ampthill or London Scottish. Shouldn’t we be united against the common enemy ? “The Judean People’s Front ?!” Enjoy the game at GR today - happy to discuss more over a pint. I’ll be there from around 2pm.

Interesting to know if Richmond have been turned down 'flat' ie told that they can't come up under any circumstances - even if they win N1 (which they are currently top of)... The more I hear about this and the longer it's delayed, the more I wonder if the whole move to a new structure will be pushed back (again) by (yet another) 12 months...

Richmond have been turned down as the 14th club, i.e. not the promoted club but an invited club, but if they win Nat 1 they (and of course which ever club comes top of Tier 3) will be invited to join the new Tier 2.

I’m surprised Richmond want it, as I thought they didn’t want to change their part time model and although they did take the old scalp they were only a bottom end of the table team.
