My opinion: In the words of the late great Margaret Thatcher: No! No! No!

I would rather see a relegation type of format i.e. bottom of 6 Nations play off against top of the European pool. I think this would generate a lot of interest and grow the game further in Europe.

I can understand the attraction to CVC of South Africa joining the NH competition, SA has a lot of expats in Europe and a long history in Rugby.
I can also see the logic with SA in the same time zone as UK and Europe. However, I think they should stay in the SH competition and a promotion/relegation every 2 years (combined total after all teams have played each other home and away) between 6 Nations and Tier 2 European competition. To me this would be the best way to inject life into a closed shop. |

It depends how we are going to be referring to the 6 Nations is it the european top competition? or is it an international country competition?
I'd prefer them joining the 6 nations then any SA sides in the european cup.

Yet another example of greed ruining the game. The Springboks should never join the 6 Nations. This is the inevitable consequence when the need for money rules above everything else. Would be a complete disaster and would kill 140 years of history. Within 10 years of the Boks joining the 6N we would moan about them winning it every year and destroying the competitiveness that makes it special. These unions need to be careful what they wish for.
If there should be any tweaking to the Six Nations, it should be getting rid of Italy and reverting back to the old five nations. Edited by Donnyknightfan - 17 Feb 2022 at 13:24 |

That's exactly what should happen for sporting integrity and a way to grow the game. Alas, Georgia are being thrown away by the money men, just like the Pacific Islands.

Are Georgia the clear choice though? Portugal drawing with them in Georgia.... I think Portugal with Georgia's best could be closer to the 5th place 6 nations side. |

The guardians of the game gave it to the money men. The money men want returns today, and do not care for the state of the game in thirty years, as they will have cashed out.

Portugal sit fourth in the RWC European qualifying, although they have played Georgia and Romania - so I think they may overtake Spain and head to the play-off. They are 15 points behind Georgia with three matches to play.

Issue with Portugal is their financials and such stability. They have zero to little control over their best players as they go and play in the Top 14/Pro D2 and such are at a mercy of those clubs to let players go play. I know of at least 6 in the Top 14 now. On their day their best side is on par with Italy's i think.

Two level European Championship is most logical and best for the European game. Play off between bottom L1 and Top L2
Current standings in European Level 2
Spain Romania Georgia Portugal Russia Netherlands with Germany and Belgium drifting in and out. Netherlands are the new boys on the block Georgia having won since at least 2014 |

Why play off? Give the team that comes top their due.

Those are a little skewed by Spain's first two matches being Russia and the Dutch. Or if you look at the two-year table for RWC qualification. after seven games: GEORGIA 31 ROMANIA 22SPAIN 21 PORTUGAL 16 RUSSIA 10 NETHERLANDS 0 |

There's only reason this idea is even being considered: money.
South Africa are already part of an established competition of their own and they should remain there. The only tinkering we should be thinking about is relegation for the 6th place team, and promoting the winner of the Championship. |

Why would a turkey 🦃 vote for Christmas 🎄?

Key question... perhaps because you paid it to vote that way, offering such a large sum that the turkey thought its children and wider family would be able to develop and benefit in spite of the immediate pain coming its way from the carving knife? Murky business, and fingers crossed it won't come to this.
