My reading of the competition rules is that Doncaster are already out. Only the three best second placed teams go through, and Ealing ( 22 ), Gloucester ( 21 ), Leicester ( 20 ) and Bristol ( 20 ) have more points than Doncaster ( 18 ). A Sale win would put them through with either 22 or 23 points and eliminate Leicester. Newcastle are already through as the group winners and can't be overtaken.
A Newcastle win puts Leicester through. If it is a draw Sale need to get the try bonus point to overtake Leicester. Bristol are out regardless of the result.
All of the above assumes the tables on the BBC website are correct........... |
Thanks for the info 😊

Cov are taking a battering at 14-49 as might be expected against 600-plus Prem caps, but at least it's officially a capacity crowd at 5250. |
You don’t get caps for a club FFS. Appearances surely??

Well done Ealing, at least the Championship will have 1 club representing them in the knockout stages. When is the draw done for it?
Surprised by the hiding that Cov took today. Leaking 10 tries at home is never a good look, albeit the tills will have been ringing loud for the Midlands derby.
On the other hand, not surprised by Caldy taking another pasting and troubling neither the scoreboard today, nor their final group table total points of 0. It makes you wonder whether Cambridge or Chinnor might have been less limp and made a better fist of it. Maybe next year.
Good luck to Ealing in the QF, I'm sure that the other Championship clubs will now be supporting you. |
Bit disengenuos of you there, were you at castle park to see the game?
I believe knights can qualify with a little help from Newcastle |

No Donny are out, only Ealing through.
Not sure what was disengenuous about my post. I wasn't at the game but from what I hear Caldy were dominated both in attack and defence by all accounts. Men against boys, much as it was last week at Newcastle.

Good post Se7en, see your bishop is still bashing Caldy , although this fetish is becoming some what tiresome. At the risk of repeating myself which game did you attend today ?
Have Caldy blooded your nose in the past ? Is the key board warrior attack a way of rectifying this ? Perhaps we should all snipe at Ampthill who have a similar if not worse record in this competition than Caldy but we will not as it would be as petty as you are being.
Caldy Exeter of the Championship P12 W3 / P11 W2 2nd from bottom what's your point ???

Yes I would agree Caldy appear to have been dominated for most of the game, by a team which cost a little more to put together. I'm sure that the team that Caldy were promoted with didn't contain half the Sale academy/seconds again I'm sure big Eddie can enlighten me there.
My point about your post is, Caldy are in the championship on merit, they don't have the financial backing (Caldy people correct me if I'm wrong) to to do this. I'm an advocate of promotion or relegation, if your top you go up, bottom your down.

Do tell; which 600 Prem-cap side did your Championship team beat today (edit: yesterday)? Genuinely interested.
