And then there were five.

With respect to Blackheath, given the points gap between them and the top, I think their defeat today to those Mighty Tigers (incidentally who play us at the Lane in two weeks) makes it very difficult for them to overhaul the teams above them.

Plymouth are on fire. Nine straight wins including today’s fantastic win at Rams.
Plymouth were very impressive at Rotherham earlier in the season where they lost to last minute penalty at Rotherham & had they kicked the points instead of going to touch on two or three occasions, they would surely have won that too.
Since that day however, Albion have gone from strength to strength, and play Roth next week looking for their 10th win on the bounce. Roths form isn’t too shabby either though, as they will be looking for their 8th straight win. Interestingly though, Roths form is markedly better away from home, certainly comparing our last three home and away games. This has been achieved with an absolutely shocking injury list, ( a lot of other teams have these issues too so isn’t an excuse) but also every game has been fiercely competitive with no quarter given. This is a tribute to ALL teams in this league & what a league it is.

Conversely Rams are, it’s fair to say, have fallen away recently and have now lost 6 games since losing their first one at Rotherham just over 3 months ago. They are now tied with both Plymouth and Rosslyn Park on 71 points, nine points behind Rotherham and twelve behind leaders, Richmond.

Rosslyn Park are still in the mix , although like Roth had similar problems to us with Leicester Lions, who although second from bottom are fighting very strongly to avoid the drop. Well played to them.
And so to the leaders Richmond. A great win today, where they had to come back from 14-0 down to a secure a great win against a very dangerous Bishops Stortford team.

Irrespective of what happens going forward, the very best of luck to all teams, officials and supporters of this great league.

Trying to avoid the politics in the game, I think this league and the one above deserves a lot of credit. All teams have battled to be where they are and I for one oppose any attempt for any club to be parachuted into these leagues without earning it on the field of play.

R2 agree with what you say re Blackheath but don’t believe we were in it, too many home loses although we could be King breakers with Roth & Rams to visit us and final game of the season away to Richmond for the next leg of the oldest longest continuing fixture

I think you're being generous Rothman, it's a 2 horse title race now.

One thing that irks me a bit about this structure is the lack of jeopardy for many teams at this stage of the season. If it's only 2 down then relegation is now a given whilst at the top only 2 teams can realistically go up. So with a quarter of the season left 11/13 teams are effectively just playing for pride.

Imo 2 should go up, 1 automatic then maybe next 4 in the playoffs and 3 should always go down.

Although given the huge discrepancies between the championship and Nat 1 and the constant attempts to get defunct and bankrupt clubs back to tier 2 maybe it's best to keep Nat 1 how it is and we all just enjoy the matches each week!

Rothman, congratulations on an amazing season so far, there is every chance you will go on and win it.

I’m intrigued by the injury list - who have you got missing who would be in the first choice?

2 hookers with hand injuries - Cole, Bergmanas, plus Okafor (back/2nd row) with another hand injury - all from BS game away. Made it interesting!
Also Ellis Thomas - back row, Donkor -prop, Maguire - 2nd row, Ollivent - centre/10, Headley - wing plus several others!
Hooker has been the biggest issue though.

I thought Newborn did well throwing in yesterday even though he didn’t play as number 2 to speak.
