Anyone heard anything further? Sounds like things have kind of settled down on the playing side of things, certainly as much as they can do given the situation.

Purely on results I would suggest yesterday showed things haven't settled on the playing side. Prior to this DMP seem to have been fairly competitive in most games this year but losing 75-0 to the team just above you at the bottom of the table looks like a big drop-off.

Yes a strange result ....from a team who are 2nd from bottom with only 2 wins!!!!!

You do a great disservice to DMP, having to make financial adjustments, so some players have left, but those who stayed are doing the best. They never gave up and stuck at it, the Lions are fighting for league survival, so were clearly up for it at home. They were so close to winning last week at Rosslyn Park, had the tries been converted, it might have been a different story, the Lions have had some close games and are scoring tries, just not been finding that killer finish yet.

DMP are having a very tough time at the moment. Clubs go through times like this and sometimes things all build up and you have a very difficult result to deal with. DMP have been a solid Nat 1 team for years and will come back stronger.

Unfortunately off field issues have an affect on On Field performances. DMP have been loosing a lot of players and ex / older players have had to come into the squad to make up numbers. Taliti Vaioletti playing well into his 40's etc. Roth have signed one of their props. This causes disruption and will have an impact on results.

Lions are a great side and are probably in a bit of a false position. They have been on the wrong side of some tight games and could well be higher up the league if you give them a few tries / kicks in the right moments.

Roth had a difficult few years when we dropped from the champ down to league 2 and are coming back strong again.

Clubs go through seasons, DMP are in a Winter but spring will come and things will level out. Keep the faith DMP it isn't over yet. Sometimes a season or 2 in a lower league can help refresh things and help you build a new squad to move forward!

Keep those heads high DMP!

Well said Chris. Good luck to them and also to Garry Law.

So I was at the game on Saturday and this man asked me if I could change him an £18 note. So I said - of course, would 2 sevens and a four be ok?

I have hear that members  have coughed up cash to see them to the end of the season, which is important to avoid expulsion, but that there are still many issues to solve for next season.

The bloke who they are into for a load of money seems to be a "challenging" individual.

My post did absolutely no disservice to DMP. It actually highlighted how well they had been doing before Saturday.

From looking at companieshouse it would appear that the money he loaned the club was secured against the stadium and surrounding parcels of land. I presume that, given the club has no realistic prospect of paying this all back, taking control of this land may well have been his intention all along?

When the stadium was first built, to stop Mr Reynolds cashing in, the council can take 75% of all profits made from selling any of the clubs assets. So it is unlikely that his intention was to take control of the assets.

The problem with rugby in the North East is lack of funding. Falcons, £40million debt and haemorrhaging players. DMP cannot sustain Nat 1 with the massive expenses for away game. Most away games require hotels which is a massive financial drain. When you consider thew cash rich southern clubs have to spend very little on hotels...you can see why Nat 1 needs to be North and South. Simply DMP cannot afford to be in Nat 1.

I have yet to find a cash rich club, even in the South.
But it is clear, clubs like Redruth and Tyndale are at a disadvantage due to the increased travel costs.
And it is an argument for either - better travel funding, or if that really cannot be afforded, regional leagues.

However, the number of leagues at any level is known to be a difficult problem.

Camborne look likely to be in Nat1 next season, which will challenge a few clubs’ travel budgets (and, most of all, their own).

I remember when Mount's Bay, Redruth and Launceston were in Nat 2 S - that added a lot of miles.
In fact, getting promoted reduced our mileage.
