Perish the thought.

Here we go again. Franchise as Sweeney's parting gift

It is simply on a different scale to rugby - a sport where few sides can attract 10,000 spectators to a match.

Or to put it more simply people are interested in T20 cricket but practically no one is interested in English club rugby and that will remain the case no matter how many times the self-interested try to re-organise and re-brand it.

Not sure about that. Nor am I sure about this story in the T'graph.

I should have said practically no one is interested in professional club rugby (the top two tiers) in England. If they were the clubs that haven't folded wouldn't be in such dire straits financially.

At a lower level there is plenty of interest which is why clubs are generally speaking able to run quite comfortably without being one step from the bankruptcy court. (Unless they are foolish enough to become beholden to some money man promising to take them to the top of course).
