You might want to consider how a franchise actually works…ie McDonalds or Subway for example.

Or are you thinking of American Sports Franchises, in which there’s an annual draft with the worst clubs getting first pick of the year’s new players.

Either way, there’s absolutely nothing like either case going on here.

And of course it reflects the system in some US sports, which rugby union seemingly wants to emulate.
