Great team spirit was shown from the start with first starts of the season for Kirkbride and Sam Wilson.

Kirkbride made some great runs in the first 20 minutes to give Billingham forward momentum but a mixture of good defence and the last pass going amidst kept the scoreboard redundant.

Blaydon got the first points of the day with some good recycling and despite some good defence they managed to score just right of the posts with the try converted.

Billingham restarted and kept applying the pressure but Blaydon held firm until a wayward pass was incepted by Matthew Kirby to score near the posts Peter converted. 7-7

Billingham kicked got the 2nd half under way and weโ€™re soon rewarded with some excellent inter play again saw Matthew 'heโ€™s on fire Kirby score.' conversation successful.

End to end stuff continued and both teams showing why they are top half teams with some excellent attacking play and defence.

Blaydon started to build pressure and going through phase after phase were eventually rewarded with a well worked try conversion missed. Blaydon kept up the pressure and with a great backs move went under the posts to regain the lead, the Billingham spirit started to show again and after some great forward drives we were rewarded with a penalty which Evans converted to make it 19-17

Billingham continued to build pressure and the pressure told when captain Peter Evans lead by example to score a try to make the score 19-22. The last half which which was 53 minutes ended with Billingham defending the line for all there worth showed true spirit to keep phase after phase out defending gallantly on are own line to finally see the game out. Billingham had a great vocal following and the noise at the final whistle was why we all follow and play this great game.

A great game as previously posted. Turning point was the final pass which Blaydon made, right on half time - a "run in" try which was intercepted and Billingham player ran the length of pitch to score.
I am surprised at the Billingham post which did not expect a 53 minute second half. I felt that 70 minutes was appropriate as their heavier and streetwise forwards wound down the clock for the whole game. Every phase was held up for a player not in place to restart a scrum or line out. Either sauntering or tying a lace or seeking medical attention. Great rest periods, if the ref swallows it. ps. I would have done the same in their position, but probably not got away with it.

Agreed. However, fair to say they get results.
Today through huge defence for most of the game.
