Slightly random question, but - I'm looking to buy concert tickets for next summer, and I have the choice of either Ashton Gate, Bristol or the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.  Both are (according to Google) a two hour drive from home, but can anyone advise on accessibility, parking etc, please?  Thanks.

Depends where you're coming from. I live much nearer Cov, work in London, and often travel to Bristol by train and car. Given you're already talking about parking then, depending on where in London you're starting from, I'd go to Cov - you can see the Ricoh from the motorway network. Bristol is an absolute pain to drive in (right up there with Oxford in my bitter experience).

However if you live in Richmond then I can see the M4 looking attractive over having to go round the M25 to get on the M1, so it's horses for courses really.

Parking is *much* better in Coventry though - Ashton Gate is heavily redeveloped but still on the footprint of a traditional inner city football ground. The Ricoh is probably easier to get to from outside the city than it is from bits of Cov, and has large car parks (well, compared to AG).
keep the faith

even for someone living near the m4 I'd be tempted to brave the m25 for 1 junction (15-16) and then head to Cov up the m40

Thanks folks.  Trains become a bit of a problem as that entails going into London and out again to get home after the show, so it looks like Coventry is probably the better option for driving.  The in-laws are in Milton Keynes, so I'm well used to the M25/ M1 trek, but the M40 looks like the more direct route.

Noooooo.
Don't put money in the franchise's pockets. We need them out of Cov, not encouraged.

Bristol every time.

Parking near the Ricoh is an absolute nightmare, and I know the little scrotes that will be looking to 'look after your car mister', and they're nasty little bu99ers who really don't like anything to do with Wa*ps.

NOPM (that's a Sky Blues acronym but applies for this too).

Yes, Killers. But the support act at Bristol and Coventry is Manic Street Preachers, which is why we're considering those shows instead of a London one.

Yes, I'd noticed that too Mark. Tempted myself for that reason, but Bristol's quite a schlep...

The Ricoh has car parks. No need to try to find backstreet parking.
Just be prepared to queue for quite a while to get back onto the road.
