Final Score - DMP 15 - SALE 32
Poor showing from DMP.
DMP gave away 3 tries before half time through mistakes and poor play and as a result made it difficult for themselves from then on.
DMP had plenty of opportunities in the game though, as SALE sat back and expected the victory.
SALE slowed the game to their pace, as open rugby is not their bag and DMP exposed this regularly.
SALE 'old -manned' the referee when they came under pressure, with numerous stoppages for physio intervention which appeared to be the default.
SALE deserved the win though, but weren't really tested by DMP.

A bizarre game at Chinnor where Plymouth scored three tries in the last 5 minutes to seal an incredible come-back.

Chinnor appeared to be coasting to victory when referee Veryan Boscawen had to go off with a hamstring injury and be replaced by one of the touch-judges with just over 20 minutes left to play.

The replacement seemed to be totally out of his depth and gave a series of bizarre decisions, affecting both sides. Not that Chinnor should blame this for their defeat, and their decision making in the closing stages was highly questionable........

Here is a fuller write-up for anyone interested.

Agreed. We gifted Sale those three easy tries in the first five minutes or so: the first from a charged down box kick, the second from the restart after we'd cut the lead with a penalty, the third from loose ball playing catch-up rugby and chasing the game too loosely and basically passing the ball to Sale players in our 22.

Once Sale had that commanding lead, they were able to dictate the game's pace and defend – sometimes illegally as their two yellow cards show – without fear of losing.

Mowden played some lovely attacking rugby, with our player of the match Louie Johnson showing he is a really good flyhalf and a fine addition to our squad. Whether Warren Seals is available or not, he'll undoubtedly feature in many more games this season from the bench and the starting line-up. It was also great to see Max Davies back in the starting lineup and making his presence felt in attack and defence, though a shame he appeared to go off with an injury.

Sale were more composed and deserved their win yesterday, though hopefully we can return the favour by winning the return fixture next year.

There's video footage of the scoring plays on the Mowden website.

Agree, I don't think DMP particularly tested Sale FC on Saturday ;-)
We made too many errors once the game was in hand and let DMP back into the game too frequently. Hopefully we correct those errors over the next few weeks.
