Congratulations to Caldy on promotion Big Eddy. A true rugby club achieving dreams on a modest budget. An inspiration to all clubs in Nat 2 and below. The Chairman helping tidy up on Sunday morning.
Rugby Stalwarts which every rugby club needs. Unfortunately we don't have these people at our headquarters RFU

Big Eddie, seagoon and pen 15 ….

The last time we all met was in the bar at Hull when both teams were playing in N2n , over the years we have had many hard fought games between the two clubs, always played in great spirit and great friendship and banter between the supporters.
Congratulations on a wonderful season, But I am a little disappointed that you decided to test yourselves in the dizzy heights of the Championship, as with Hull gaining promotion to N1, I was looking forward to enjoying the company of the three of you next season 😎 Alas it is not to be .
I hope the Ravers continue to have success on and off the field next season and that you three enjoy visiting new venues 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

As you can imagine on Sunday morning Paton Field looked like the council tip on a bad day . I live very close by and my wife and I went up just after 6 a.m.

Caldy had a junior touring team arriving at 10 a.m. for a game , Caldy's choir "Off Pitch" and the Heswall Golf club choir "the Bunker Boys" had a lunchtime gig in the marquee, and the Caldy players and coaches were returning to continue where they left off at 1 a.m in the morning.

At 6 a.m it seemed an impossible task to get the grounds, the clubhouse and the marquee in any safe state for Sunday's events. At 6.15 a.m. we put the call out on twitter and on What's App.

Dave Adams and Big Giles (the man who is so so good at collecting money from Sharks) arrived within 20 minutes followed shortly after by Phil Wylie, John Wylie, Bob Cook, the Chairman and his wife. and one of Paton Field's neighbours.

Everyone worked none stop for 3 hours and 'as if by magic' the grounds and club house were restored to their previous splendour.

Chores almost become a pleasure when everyone mucks in

Puli,

Thank you for the congratulations. Bonkers really.

I remember our last meeting well. We had a huge amount of fun in N2 North, the same fun in National 1 and we hope to be continuing the fun in the Championship. As long as the Ravers stay true to their motto we will always enjoy ourselves.

Being on Sandal's Junior committee for many years you have to look after your Mini and Juniors.
They will keep you up there in the future. So doing what you and many other members did at 6am despite hangovers so that the Juniors have their day says a lot for your club Well done

I have just seen the NCA interview with Caldy's DOR Gareth Davies after the Caldy v Sale match.

For once the taciturn and self effacing Gareth Davies spoke publicly.

Gareth was measured, magnaminous, modest and humble just reiterating his values and Caldy's values. He never claims credit for anything and works tirelessly for the squad and the club:

He lets the coaches, coach
He lets the players, play

but be in no doubt he is the glue that binds it all together. He absorbs everything and gets the right people to do the right things at the right time.

An exceptional performance Gareth

I have just read Austin Healey's article in the Daily Telegraph about Caldy's promotion to the Championship.........he is talking more boll*x than usual.

I feel so strongly about Mr Healey's widely inaccurate and misleading comments I have reproduced this post in the Championship section.

I quote Mr Healey..."Caldy have got into the Championship based on natural local talent plus a huge amount of support from Sale Sharks who have let Caldy use their young Academy players. Caldy have in turn become something of a feeder club......"

Did Mr Healey check with Caldy RFC or Sale Sharks. I am sure Sale Sharks will be embarrassed by Mr Healey's crass and hugely inaccurate comments.

For the record:

Sale Sharks provided Caldy with two players at the start of the 2022 season and the two players played one game before Sale Sharks told Caldy that they were moving the two players to RGC. One player asked to stay at Caldy whiich he did. Throughout the season Nye Thomas (the other player) started two games for Caldy (lasted only 15 minutes before being injured in his first game) and came off the bench for two games. That is the sum total of Sale Sharks' huge amount of support' '...........just pathetic by Austin Healey.

In one article Austin Healey has just denigrated everything Caldy is about!!!

To be clear no blame attaches to Sale Sharks, they didn't write this tosh!
