Donny’s tries full of brilliant continuity and team effort but Nick Royle’s try is one the greatest individual scores I have ever seen at any level …. even surpasses Gareth Edwards' individual score at Cardiff Arms Park against Scotland in 1972 5 Nations game .

Trust me it takes a lot for me to say that. Judge for yourselves

It was a miracle score by Gareth Edwards who was 25 at the time and in his absolute physical prime.

Nick Royle will be 39 in a week's time. To score that try is scarecly believable...........if Nick had been 25 not one Richmond player would have gotten close enough to get a hand on him.............but to have the strength speed and sheer talent to fend off 5 Richmond players during a 90 metre run is just f****ng awesome.

I am sure the great Bill Mclaren would have have used words to that effect.

The Richmond tacklers went too high for sure but you have to give all the praise to Nick Royle to have the talent and the pace. He is still very quick and if the tacklers had tried to go lower perhaps Nick would have had that extra fraction of a second that would have seen him clear without contact.

It really is a great effort, and I suspect it will very much feature in the try of the week. Will Caldy get that award two weeks on the bounce?

Great effort from Royle, Ricky Tomlinson never travelled that far in the whole series.......

Appalling attempts at tacking from the Mond defenders but every credit to NR. What a breath of fresh air Caldy are to the league.

Update from Championship Rugby on Twitter:

Dear @CaldyRFC, Champ Admin here. Apologies 🙏 While going through footage last night [very] mistakenly thought Nick Royle’s 36th min try had ended up in touch. This should, of course, have been nominated and will go into a vote tomorrow with the winner of today's TOTW poll.

I know I maybe considered to be somewhat biased but I can’t look past Nick’s try for try of the season

They rarely give tries of the week for 1 man efforts, usually flowing team moves. Personally thought the Doncaster try was the best effort on show (including the Caldy effort)

It did look forward, but obviously the camera was not at a very good angle to see for sure. Wonderful flowing move mind. Torn between that and the Donny try. The Caldy try was special and a real lesson in don’t stop running until you are on the floor. Have to say that the Mond tackling was horrendous!! Much more of that and the dreaded trap door will start to open behind them.
Great to see teams moving the ball around though.
Tackle Low!!!!!
