I knew it was going to be a close call between Chester and Macclesfield going west.

I'm pleased we're going back north, means I can get to more away games, and I suspect a few more players will be inclined to travel too.

I feel for Macclesfield, but there's always going to be be someone that has to cop for going west until the league structures are next looked at. I guess you're never going to please everyone.

I know when Leicester Lions were moved into the old South league they were less than overjoyed, but they made the best of it and when going to the then new West league in got them used to the step up in both the rugby and the travelling. Setting out on a Friday night, overnight hotel in Taunton, then on to Cornwall will no doubt have added to the preparation for the next step up to Nat 1. I guess it's how you approach it mentally, see it as a great challenge rather than a pain and enjoy the rugby at new grounds.

I think taking out the Midlands as a regional league was a mistake. North to Midlands switch is fine South Midlands to East or West is preferable and minimises the travel for most clubs. The possible option then would be to Split Level 3 into North and South with North and Midlands going into Level 3 North and South East / South West into 3 South and the two level three clubs either being promoted into Championship or a play off for one place. Or am I being too logical which is not a word I would use in connection to the RFU.

Nat 1 is superb as it is, I wouldn't change it, however if Premiership 2 does happen, there may be knock-ons down the pyramid if the franchises do get taken up.

This is going to be a big debate next season and whilst I agree with TB that Nat.1 is superb I would change it to North & South.

My understanding is that as part of the review of the latest league reorganisation due to take place soon the "expected" outcome is two leagues at level 3 (expected north and south) and 4 leagues at level 4 (north, south, east and west). My source is usually pretty reliable, time will tell.

I played for Macc back in the 60s and now live in Bristol so watch a few local game at Nat 2 level. The standard in Nat 2 W was very high this season and I expect things to stay at a similar level. Best of luck to all the sides but 600 + mile  round trips don't make a lot of sense in terms of the environment, player welfare, cost and enjoyment. Macc won the league that my club Stockport are in and it's a big step up . It will be interesting to see how Dings get on in Nat 1.

Your source may be reliable but he s out of date. 2 Leagues at Level 3 is no longer on the table.

What’s the plan now Halliford?
As one door closes…….another one slams in your face.

I like your optimism that there is a plan Rothman2!
