To be honest there was little to no warning on the 4 pack of Bombay Bad Boy that I smuggled into L'Horizon. There was a caveat about alcohol and Bombay Bad Boy potentially causing an accumulation of gas in the alimentary canal but that passed me by as I thought it would only apply if one was in Venice.

There is always a cause and effect and I didn't expect a spark from MMYW's stilettos to set off such a chain reaction. MMYW did pass an early morning remark that she could smell something untoward ....I should have heeded the warning.

Apart from this explosive start to the day we have all settled into our digs at L'Horizon and other hostelries on the island. Carol who is a member of the Blue T**ts swimming club has been asking around about the best time to swim in St Brelade's Bay and the delightful April has been frolicking in the Jacuzzi.

Following the Ravers doesn't get much better than this

In the reverse fixture at the Paton Field Stadium Jersey's big boys didn't come on until the second half, what further perils await the diminutive Ravers?

Just make them run for the full 80, they will soon need to breathe via their alimentary canal.

The most interesting names on the Jersey bench are the two young half backs who I can't wait to see play together ideally down the slope in the second half.

I think that all 3 backs selected for the bench are immensely exciting.
This is a very strong 23 that Jersey are putting out and if Caldy win, by George, they will have deserved it.
Best of luck to all teams and no injuries please!!

There is a local year-round swimming group in Jersey called the Blue T*ts - the second word being a reference to the frontal chest area of swimmers' bodies...

I have never heard of the Blue T**ts - it sounds as if that may relate to more, ahem, nether regions, but I'm not sure I want to go there.

The West Kirby swim club is just a little more hard core than those south of Watford….. hence the Blue T**ts

Just spent a convivial hour at Jersey RFC in the company of Tom and Kate ……sets up tomorrow perfectly. It was a lovely gesture appreciated by everyone from Caldy. Something Caldy should consider …… for the teams we like

Yes an enjoyable warm-up BE, in which the general consensus seemed to be that there will be 3-400 from Caldy in attendance tomorrow, altho' I did hear an estimate of 500 from one attendee.

The only bad news related to the Caldy 2nd XV game (KO 1.30) in which the Ravers have the chance to win their league - it was hoped to screen this in the Pav but apparently an issue with Apple TV (don't ask me the details) may scupper this.

But I trust the travelling hordes won't be too disappointed about this - they seemed to be in very good 'early-tour' form - let's hope that doesn't spill over into 'peaking-too-early' by the time they are turfed out of Mimosa and/or the Royal Yacht nightclubs at 0200 on match-day...

Brizzer,

Having spent an hour or two yesterday afternoon in the Lamplighter I am concerned that the Caldy players could have drifted in there inadvertently.

The clientele and the manager of the Lamplighter all seemed to be rugby people and very used to drinking challenges and other whimsical rugby practices involving small cigar stubs and clenched buttocks.

Most of the Ravers would not be able to resist such a challenge. I now have a sense of foreboding about today.

Did you listen to the warnings about not glancing at the whisky and Armagnac boards BE?

Paid scant attention…….despite MMYW also admonishing me in advance. The manager of the Lamplighter regaled us with stories of passing out after downing 6 pints of cider and black. However he blanched at the Wyllies’ tales of certain eating challenges that involved the clubhouse urinals….

Obviously he wasn’t a Raver

A cold but still day as the massed armies of the North prepare to descend upon The Stade Santander International….. primed with Liberation Ale we will make our voice heard … with Birkenhead Park’s Stu Cross possibly the second loudest.
