Thanks Sedge. We didn’t have Big John in the team today either. Good squad this year though.

Great to see Roth making an early impression on their return to ND1. Rosslyn Park and Darlington away were two tough fixtures to start the season so to win both with a bit to spare is very encouraging for Roth.

Great day today. Nat 1 really feels like its up and running now. A couple of unexpected results, but a good reminder of how this is the best league in the RFU structure.

Very well done to Rotherham again this week, but especially well done to Dings Crusaders (not sure how many Dings supporters there are here on RM?) putting that many points on an established Nat 1 team like Albion in your first home game at Level 3. I'm sure that was a great atmosphere.

Rams marching on at Esher ticking off another 5 points. Game of the week at OBR next week as they look to put to bed their bogey team Sale and take control of the top of the table.

Dings is the one club I know very little about in this league, although I understand they have close links with Bristol, with whom we had some titanic battles over the years. Certainly a hot bed of Rugby in that area.

"Bristol have been keen to have a local team in this division for a while in order to get competitive game time for young players. They have certainly gone to town with Dings first match with 6 players in the pack and 2 backs. It could prove a really good partnership this season"

Up until half an hour ago I would have agreed with you absolutely - then I saw Bristol/Dings - 8 Bristol players in the squad. Will someone have a quiet word with Dings otherwise that's this league well and truly raspberried.

Pat Lam was there today according to the link.

Does anyone know about these players in more detail?

Steele Barker was at Pirates last season, signed by Bristol after season ended. Joe Jenkins played a couple of games on loan from Bristol last season.

So are Dings Crusaders going to be the London Scottish of Nat 1? I had hoped we had left all this nonsense behind in the Championship, but if the reduction in Prem squad sizes means the incompetent Top 10 are going to start mucking around with Tier 3 to the same extent as they are trying to take over Tier 2, it will be trouble all round.

Championship clubs are imposing limit of 6 on DRs/loanees this season, I believe. It was 13 last season, with large numbers of Prem players regularly imposed appearing in LS colours, often in Ampthill with Bedford Blues/Saints link also worrying.

There is no question in my mind that the Prem clubs want Tier 2 to be like Triple A baseball, a feeder league with no promotion/relegation for them to run as mini academies. I hope they fail, but it would be especially tragic, given the quality of this league, if they did the same thing to T3.

Broken down. Beyond repair.

Agree wholeheartedly with you FHLH.
Loanee numbers must be capped IMHO

Blackheath were outstanding yesterday, although Stortford collapsed in a 15 minute spell before half time where they ran in 4 tries.

Would expect them to be up there this season based on that game.

Agree with others on the loanees sentiment.

Personally think it should be capped to a maximum of 4. What's the point in having a club if you're just there to give minutes to a prem club's youngsters?

Went to the game as Plymouth fan. Good facilities all around in multiple pitches, stand. A lot of people. One thing you first notice is the Bristol bears logo as they train there/ women there?!

As for the players, I don’t know the players but every mistake we made seemed to be punished with a breakaway speedy try. Time will tell if our defending or what the links with Bristol mean. For all the speed tries, as rugby fan respecting opposition to see them get a catch and drive at end was a fair play moment in all skills being shown.  Rams the next visitors for Dings.
You can score against them though, we got four tries and Moseley got 40 points. After I asked what aims are for season, one fan said to stay up. Play like that and they will get that aim, could be/ go higher.

One of our supporters view in general is the league is getting better and better every year so getting tougher.

Fair play to them they have a good setup.

As for loans, if that many it does make you think should it be allowed. Or is it coming to terms with where rugby is now in all these players in the academies etc?! Does it help increase quality in league?! Personally feel a club should always keep its own identity first (in general not commenting on Dings now , they do though, multiple teams etc). Once had a concern Plymouth would become “Exeter 2nds, “ it never happened. Rarely use Exeter players at the moment.
