Oh and about crowd size, yes it was disappointing but so are Newcastle and Sale.
Exeter were c. 2,500 in the Championship, now look at them. However Ealing donβt need the crowd, they have what most Premiership teams have, a rich backer happy to lose a load of money and no back up plan if they were to disappear!

It took two posts but you managed to tick every box possible. Your usual effort exceeded by far in denigrating Ealing Trailfinders.........well done supreme effort.

It's disappointing that so few turn up to support Ealing. What they've achieved over the last 10 years or so is impressive. OK, they have the committed backer who has spent a lot of money - but the squad they have and the facilities at Vallis Way are to be admired. Not sure why more punters don't come in - is it that there is simply too much opposition for fans with football and Premiership rugby nearby?
As others have said, that game was there to be won, small margins with two kicks hitting the posts and a couple of interceptions. So they are not far off being able to compete at the top level. They should be given the chance if they win the league, but we all know that isn't going to happen.

I have no connection or special knowledge of Ealing but I suspect their back up plan if and when the worst were to happen would be to continue with the flourishing amateur club in a much improved and secured environment thanks to their rich backer. |

Not sure why we have the over sensitive Ealing fans attacking me.
Is it true that Ealing had massive scrum ascendancy in the first 20 mins and didnβt make it count. Is it true when De Wee got a silly yellow and Tigers got a couple of maul tries shortly after. Ealing have an owner that gave £7,667,888 last year alone to fund the rugby operations, so the money is there. If you take Bristol they have a turnover of £14m of which £5.4m is from league income and £4.8m from ticket sales. Looking at Newcastle they have a turnover of £12.2m, £1.2m comes from tickets, £7.85m from RFU and Premier Rugby. Sale only have income of £11.7m with £7.46 form the RFU and Premier rugby. Add on the £7.7m the Ealing owner provides to either the £7.85 or £5.4m they are there. It just shows the crowd do not matter for Premiership Clubs and naturally they would be larger with more away supporters in the Premiership. |

Upon further review, the crowd wasnt nearly as small as Austin Healey made out. The 2700 quoted was the sold out standing capacity. As Trailfinder said, there were likely only 500, or so unsold seats, so attendance was likely c.4500 or so.

Very nice articles in TRP today in praise of Ealing and in opposition to the cartel.

Yes there are, and rightly so. However, sadly, the Rugby Paper has the teeth of a new-born babe. It won't change a thing.

Hidden away in the the RUGBY PAPER is a readers letter. A Coventry supporter shouting the praises of Ealing and that they should be given the chance to clasp the poisoned chalice with both hands.

I think most of us would agree that if Ealing win the league they should (if they want it) be given a chance in the top flight.
