To be fair, that makes as much sense as most of the existing criteria!

That is a lot more than many companies pay under English Company Law which allows Directors to close down loss-making businesses, buy the assets at a knock-down price and start trading again straight away.

The difference is that rugby is supposed to be primarily a sport and not a vehicle for a failed businesses to have another go.

In terms of precedent, I disagree with what has been done, and it seems unfair to clubs like London Scottish, London Welsh, and Richmond.

On the other hand, it is probably good for rugby, and certainly good for rugby fans in Worcester. I'm excited by the idea of a a trip to Worcester, which I haven't visited before, and if this raises commercial interest in the Championship, then that can only be a good thing.

You are right that 'rugby' is supposed to be primarily a sport. However, by its very nature, 'professional rugby' is primarily a business.

Be aware that Sixways is miles from the city centre (which is really very pleasant), and is even in a different district.

It is handy for the M5, though.

It's a nice walk back to town from Sixways on the canal towpath, with a handy pub about halfway. Handshake

Git to be well over an hour though - even without the pub.

Without rugby these businesses would not exist so I disagree.

I don't believe that anyone is saying that professional rugby would exist 'without rugby', rather that the professional clubs are run primarily as businesses.

The mighty Mond sealed promotion today, so unless Donny goes on a tear and Ealing stumbles bay, we know our 25/26 league.

With all due respect to some hard working Nat1 clubs, I think we’ve known most of the league for a while.

Congratulations to Richmond. They take their place on merit.

What am I missing, other than the unlikely, Richmond are 10 points ahead according to the BBC with 2 games to go.  Yes there is 141 points difference, but if Richmond were to lose 2 by 20 points and Rosslyn Park win both by 51 points they would end up on 20 wins each.

  1. Number of matches won
  2. Difference between points for and against
  3. Total number of points for
  4. Aggregate number of points scored in matches between tied teams
  5. Number of matches won excluding the first match, then the second and so on until the tie is settled
