I've been working 60-70 hour weeks for the last couple of months in the run up to the end of the year. I finally have more than a minute to come up with my predictions. Likely to lead to a dip in form.
Bedford 5 - 0 Cambridge - Bedford struggled in the mud vs. Chinnor, but I think they'll have plenty at home to deal with Cambridge, even with the Blood and Sand coming off of a win. I believe Dean Adamson is back and healthy. Ealing 5 - 0 Caldy - Provided that Ben Ward doesn't perform some insane rotation, we could expect another cricket score as Ealing seem to be extremely in-form at the moment. Scottish 2 - 5 Chinnor - depends a great deal on how many dual reg turn out for Scottish. I'll go for a strong away win by Chinnor, with maybe 3 Alun Walker flop over tries. Nottingham 1 - 4 Coventry - I think Cov will have something to prove in this match, and will grind out a tough win. Ampthill 1 - 4 Pirates Doncaster 4 - 1 Hartpury - I suspect this will be a tight match that comes down to whoever takes the points. Donny to edge it at home on the strength of the Cow Pies.

Blues 5-0 Cambridge - Blues to come out firing, disappointed by Cambridges refusal to play on Boxing Day, still it looks a sell out with just 500 tickets remaining. Ealing 5-0 Caldy - Banker Scottish 4-1 Chinnor - think this will be tight Nottingham 1-4 Coventry - could go the other way Ampthill 0-5 Pirates - only one winner here for me Doncaster 1-4 Hartpury - could go the other way but Hartpury are doing well this season

Ealing Trailfinders to face Caldy: I like this team selection. What I like even more about Ealing this year is that they are playing a lot more young guys instead of journeyman. For example, great to see David Douglas Bridge and Lefty in the starting lineup. - Lefty Zigiriadis
- Mike Willemse
- Biyi Alo

I think they would be able to get into the 6’s at least, I know some people already looking for tickets! If the ground has more of the Doncaster terrace you may be into the 7’s, as those standing could see easier, especially if Northampton were also away. There are a number of floating supporters between the 2 and between Christmas and New Year people want something to do.
Going back a number of years ago, pretty sure we got 5,500 on Boxing Day, when we still had the extra temporary stand when Saints & Quins were in the division.

5,500 was the official number for Quins, in early December 2005, but it felt like 6,500. Andrew Mehrtens was the difference on the field and on the scoreboard - what a player.

Did Caldy play well gerg ? Good game management after a sticky start ? Or was Ealing poor on the day ? Or does it show this league can still be competitive top to bottom ?

I fear that I am still in the land of Santa Claus and no sunshine, otherwise known as Finland, and could only follow along on Twitter and the fans WhatsApp group. Apparently Ealing stormed out to a big e8-0 lead, then made changes at halftime. The replacements were a bit sloppy and gave up a shower of yellow cards, which Caldy capitalised on. Ealing then got back to full strength and padded the score. Sounded like Ealing were too fast out wide.

I'm flattered to be asked to provide an analysis of what has been, again, a couple of thumpings for Caldy and Cambridge respectively.
I will concede that a combined scoreline of 105 v 33 today reads marginally better than the cricket score I highlighted a few weeks ago, but that's being generous in this season of goodwill as it's 2 more heavy beatings at the end of the day.
What is more telling (and concerning for the two at the bottom) is the 1 Championship league table point (out of a possible 10) that both sides could muster between them today (and even that solitary point being achieved due to ill-discipline by Ealing and their 3 YC gifting Caldy a TBP from what I gather - albeit when the game as a contest was effectively already over after 30 minutes at TFSC).
Compare this to the 10 league points that Bedford and Ealing added to their tallies at a canter, both games sewn up well before half time. The league table doesn't lie, and nothing from today has convinced me that either team are not out of their depth. This is of course only my opinion, and I really don't mind being framed as the pantomime villain on here, it certainly gets people talking!
Game of the day for me was at The Bay, well done to Nottingham taking the spoils from what seems to have been a very entertaining and well balanced match, Champ rugby at its best.
The real thing I'd like to know from today though is whether or not there was any grass on the RAG pitch, and if there was did this scupper Chinnor at all...? Answers on a postcard

What a brilliant result for Nottingham today. 4th in the league - that is some season they are having. Well done to everyone concerned. They’re putting other better resourced clubs in the shade. Bedford and Ealing did what was expected - kudos to Blues for getting a 5,000 crowd - I wish we had those kinds of numbers at Castle Park. As for LS/Chinnor - well who knew that having more than half of your team being Premiership loanees would work?. What a complete joke.

One thing that happened at Blues was we had a referee change at half time, presumably for injury.

Blues conspired to keep Cambridge in the game until half-time, by butchering several clear chances. Cambridge also left points out there.
We had a couple of good attacks early in the second half, but a turnover gave Bedford a try against the run of play, then Bedford had a purple patch playing down the hill, a couple of stupid penalties, a couple of missed tackles and Bedford took advantage. Suddenly everything they tried worked, all the passes stuck. And they ran away with the game.
Cambridge did pull themselves together and managed to stop the rot, holding out for about the last 10 minutes, though the clock had one wrong, so it might have been more, or less.
The 5,000 fans had a great time, even the die hard Blood and Sand supporters - and at the end of the day, that is what it is all about.
I believe the original ref was fit enough to run the line, so I assume it was something like a tight hamstring - but that is just a guess.

A deserved victory for London Scottish ( and their 12 Harlequins ) today. They dominated the lineouts and generally starved Chinnor of possession, but although their backs looked lively, their main tactic was the high kick.
The successive games against Pirates, Doncaster, Nottingham and Bedford seemed to have taken a toll on Chinnor, with a threadbare bench in terms of forwards, and the front row played nearly all of the game. They have a few weeks to recover before facing Ealing !
Here is the detailed report for anyone interested

Donny this season are an infuriating watch - they lose against teams that they really should be beating but then when it clicks they can beat anyone in this league convincingly. Hartpury are a strong side yet the Knights dominated them really. A 16 point margin flattered the visitors. When you see what Donny can produce when it clicks, losing against the likes of London Scottish and Chinnor is just unforgivable really. The Scottish game was a disgrace of a performance and we should have never been in a position where we were in the lap of the gods with the weather at Chinnor. The performance we put in today should be the standard that we reach every week from now on.
