Having woken from my slumbers in front of the Friday night music docs, I might as well get the ball rolling early on the league programme. All 15.00 KO (unless noted).

Public service updates - just copy, paste and the input the score to get your team's update on the board; @20 mins/HT/60 mins/FT to keep us all in the know, right?

OEs 0-0 Chinnor (14.00)
Roth 0-0 Richo (14.00)
Sale 0-0 Cambridge (14.00)

Stortford 0-0 Rams
Cants 0-0 DMP
Cinders 0-0 Hull Is
PARFC 0-0 Club
Park 0-0 Mose

Persistent wind and rain down here in PL1. There's a chance it could be clear by KO, but it won't be a fun drive down the M5 - and defo squidgy underfoot if game on. (No whispers of a wave-off by the travellers?)

Still meteorological cats and dogs down here. Will swing by Brickfields for the RWC game shortly.

Personally, I'm fearful - but PARFC just put out an "It's Game Day" tweet... Wacko

PARFC 0-0 Club

Pitch is looking surprisingly good. Rain easing off and wind due to drop in a couple of hours. Club kit wagon has arrived, so we must be good to go...

They must have known well before that time that the pitch was unplayable. Poor show from Cinders.
The same thig happed a few years ago to Hull RUFC some years ago at Lymm. When we arrived there was standing water on the pitch.

Not Cinders call. Referee inspected on arrival at 1.30pm, and said it was ok to go ahead.

Both sets of players wanted to play as they had both warmed up on the pitch, but referee called it off at 2.55pm!

They have played on worse at Dockham Road, so really disappointing, especially when Hull have travelled so far.

Wrong my friend, called off by referee with Cinderford and Ionians wanting to play x

Not that it helps anyone (players/supporters making a long journey for nothing) but some sympathy for the ref/Cinderford. I'm guessing it's the same persistent (but not downpours) rain that we have here in Brum.

All looks OK until saturation point is reached.....so when Hull had to leave this morning an inspection would show it wet but playable......not sure what the rules/guidance are...……..can the home side inspection committee 'guess' that it will get wetter or can they only report on what's in front of them?

Correct Puli.
Both teams would have played. Refs call.

Thanks Puli, my apologies to Cinderford. Still hard on Ionians though.

Just for reference. On match day game can only be called of by match referee. If both teams want to play the match referee has the final say. Please don’t be too critical off the ref as he holds the responsibility for the safety of all players and lots of people would have been quick to criticise if one player was injured if a scrum went down as people struggled to keep on their feet.
On the drive to Plymouth we were reduced down to 30mph on a mph road as the eind and rain was so bad and it was surprising how good Brickfields was and how well it held up

Correct Rabbie,
On match day the ref has the final call but, if either captain casts doubt the ref has no option but to agree with captain who does not wish to play, usually the away team captain.
This scenario did not happen yesterday. Both captains wanted to play.

Not sure if the later is correct? I believe Ampthill wanted a game cancelled at Coventry in National One but the ref said pitch was playable and game went ahead. Mind I think Ampthill wanted it cancelled before they even set off.

There has to be reasonable grounds not to play because they didn’t feel like it doesn’t count

Cindy coach and others spent an hour clearing water away from the pitch as much as possible.

They did indeed. I watched them brushing surface water into bins and carrying it off the pitch. They made every effort to ensure the match was played but it had been raining for some time and it did not stop raining. There was a lot of well intended optimism which is to be expected but maybe someone needed to be a bit more realistic, a little earlier.
At 14:50 there were still many areas of standing water on the pitch and the ref had no option but to cancel the match.
Another point for the Cinderford supporters to consider is that if we had played, the Cinderford pitch would not have recovered this season.

I was at a wedding just outside Cinderford on Saturday, and it was torrential from about 9am right through the afternoon. Lovely clear still night afterwards and a heavy frost. But there's no way anyone should have been playing rugby in it. There was flash flooding in the surrounding villages.
