Cornish Pirates (5) v (1) London Scottish It's a long way down cannot see the Scots winning down there
Ampthill (5) v (2) Cambridge Derby match and going with home win
Caldy (1)v (5) Nottingham The archers looking stronger this year
Doncaster Knights (5) v (1) Hartpury I think the boys are ready to get into some real fixtures
Bedford (2) v (5) Ealing Could go either way, I think the Blues will make Ealing work very hard (fixture of the week)
Bye v Coventry (RIP Jersey Reds) - Saddened to see, this this would have been my fixture of the week

Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny!

Cornish Pirates 5-0 London Scottish. A hard fixture for Scottish to start their season with, and I think they will come away empty-handed.
Ampthill 5-0 Cambridge. A fairly local derby but Ampthill have recruited well, and after a hard time in the Cup, they are pumped up to tackle the league.
Caldy 4-1 Nottingham. Nottingham might have improved but Caldy at home are tough opposition.
Doncaster 5-1 Hartpury. Doncaster to win and score four tries, but Hartpury might get a few of their win too.
Bedford 1-5 Ealing. The same comment applies as the Doncaster game, except the away side should triumph.

Cornish Pirates 5-0 London Scottish - Chiefs too strong for Quins
Ampthill 5-0 Cambridge - - Good win for the Mob, can't see a TBP or losing BP for Cambridge
Caldy 1-5 Nottingham - Could be the reverse outcome but favour the Archers in this one
Doncaster 5-1 Hartpury - Tough day at Franklin Gardens but Donny will bounce back, 'Pury like to chuck it about should be a very good game
Bedford 2-5 Ealing - Has the makings of a classic, potential banana skin for ET

Ealing team line up very impressive. It would seem that the two week break was enough to get many niggles fixed, as we get run outs from many former prem and international players who weren't available during the cup. My only concerns are that Willis is starting after not getting any game time for about five months, and is only backed up by Twelvetrees moving to 10 if needed. The other concern is that our 6/7 are both not first choice due to injuries, though our line up is going to be absolutely enormous with Montgomery at 6.

I hope everyone enjoys this one, I won't be there as some prat vandalized my car.

Cornish Pirates 5 - 0 London Scottish - Long ride there, long ride back for Scottish.
Ampthill 5 - 1 Cambridge - Depends on injury situation for Cambridge.
Caldy 1 - 4 Nottingham  - I think Nottingham could surprise some.
Doncaster Knights 5 - 0 Hartpury - Hopefully not the Donny performance from the fnal round of the cup.
Bedford 1 - 5 Ealing - This all depends on whether or not Ealing can be more than the sum of its parts. They're good parts, but I've not seen them on the field together before.

I find it amusing you have concerns Gerg!!! With the squad Ealing have they should see the season through unbeaten and give Newcastle a fright in the play off!!!

Ealing have 4 former Blues there

Blues will no doubt be looking to attack where Alo stands, although the wet weather isn’t going to help.

Bedford Blues starting XV:

15. Matt Worley, 14. Seán French, 13. Michael Le Bourgeois, 12. Jordan Venter, 11. Dean Adamson, 10. Will Maisey, 9. Alex Day (C); 1. Joey Conway, 2. James Fish, 3. Oisin Heffernan, 4. Robin Williams, 5. Alex Woolford, 6. Luke Frost, 7. Kieran Curran, 8. Cameron King

Bedford Blues Replacements:

16. Jacob Fields, 17. Jamie Jack, 18. Bryan O’Connor, 19. Jordan Onojaife, 20. Jac Arthur, 21. James Lennon, 22. Louis Grimoldby, 23. Ethan Grayson

Our last two encounters at Dillingham park took place in named storms, Brian and David.
They were therefore low scoring encounters, but we won both of those.
Hopefully we can do it again in Babet.

Predictions:
Cornish Pirates 5 - 0 London Scottish
Ampthill 5 - 0 Cambridge
Caldy 4 - 1 Nottingham
Doncaster 5 - 1 Hartpury
Bedford 1 - 5 Ealing

As mentioned previously, it’s very sad to see Jersey not on the fixture list anymore. I always enjoyed the battles that the Knights had against them, it was never less than competitive and full-blooded against the Reds. They will be missed.

HT Blues (2 tries) 14-19 (3 tries) Ealing

Blues have had 3 yellow cards and that is when Ealing have scored. They haven’t looked as direct and physical as usual. Blues scored one when with 14.

Strangling a slow game Ealing look tired but have the slope with them.

Referee has made some strange decisions and choices.

Blues certainly not out of it.

Maybe not match fit? They have been walking around and some players have been really blowing. They have a decent bench though to bring on and head down the slope.

Cambridge started slowly, and for the first 20 minutes, Ampthill looked like they might run away with it. But tough defence from the Blood and Sand limited them to one score.  Then Cambridge found their collective feet and started to dominate the set piece and in territory, drawing level just before half-time.

Ampthill scored first in the second half, but Cambridge struck back and then finally took the lead with their fourth try.

Cambridge thought they had done enough, but gave up a penalty deep inside the Ampthill 22. The mob chose to tap and run and went 70 metres, Cambridge kept them out, but were offside. Another tap lad to several more phases and joy on the Cambridge bench when the ref signalled held up, turning to desolation when they realised he was playing advantage. The third time, Ampthill found a gap and drove over.

Cracking game, Cambridge's missed conversion hit the post.

No idea, I do not recall it being announced, and I am poor at estimating.
It was quite easy to move along the barrier to follow play.
If forced to guess, I would say 500.

Blues right in it with 15 to go at 21-26, but ref made some questionable
decisions to get Ealing over the line, never seen a side off
their feet at so many rucks!

Terrible game by Ealing they looked so unfit especially when they scored the  winning margin of twenty points. I have never seen so many yellow cards and there should have been a few more against Bedford.
