London Scottish 5 - 2 Nottingham - one that could go the other way, but a Friday night makes it hard to travel Bedford Blues 5 - 2 Doncaster Knights - Blues to win it, but not with a drop goal, but a Fyn Brown try to upset the Knights faithful. Although I could also see this going the other way between 2 well matched teams. Hope we have some 2nd rows returning from injury, as all 4 could be out! Caldy 0 - 5 Coventry - the pitch is not a mud bath so only one winner by a decent margin Cambridge 0 - 5 Cornish Pirates - Pirates will be determined to get their season going and Cambridge won’t stop them Chinnor 2 - 5 Hartpury - Could go the other way but I see Hartpury coming out on top. Hartpury’s defence was not great against Blues, so I expect lots of points Ealing 5 - 0 Ampthill - don’t see Ampthill winning this one even with Sarries assistance |

LS 14 Notts 48 (FT) That scoreline tonight really doesn’t reflect well on Donny’s performance last week. A lot of the Scottish team that played last week played tonight. I watched the Newcastle vs Exeter game on TNT Sports. The Newcastle pack looked decent but their backs were ordinary, and Exeter were simply awful apart from Feyi-Waboso and Josh Hodge ( both former National League One players ! )

HT Blues (2 tries) 15-10 (1 try) Knights Blues go down the slope 2nd half and should probably be a few more points up. Blues also had to sub 2 backs in the first 20 mins so hopefully no more required as we just have the scrum half left.

Blues v Knights. Knights seem to have more ball and territory 2nd half and a couple of key moments when soon after Knights scored (from an offside position) Blues got an intercept to open the gap back up. First time that I can remember where Blues pack had the better of Knights.

Caldy had some of their big guns back from injury and it showed, they should have won. leading by a point with a couple of minutes to go they lost possession in a driving maul and Cov built enough pressure to get a penalty. One that got away. They will feel a helluva lot better for a decent performance though. ------------- ''The future isn't what it used to be'' |

Was it 14 unanswered tries for Ealing today?! As the Mob DoR, what on earth do you say in the changing room after that drubbing of over a point a minute? I've no idea. Did Ampthill have any/many Sarries DRs with them today? Donny and Pirates in unchartered territory down the bottom with Caldy, who must have thought they'd finally get a win today. When or where they will get one is anyone's guess.

A bit of an eye-opener for Chinnor at home today against Hartpury. With less than 50 minutes played it was 0-34, and it should have been more, and a 50 to 60 point hammering looked on the cards. Chinnor had conceded numerous penalties, kicked restarts straight into touch and failed to find touch with penalties. However, they showed great spirit in the final 30 minutes to score 19 unanswered points. It wasn't enough, but they showed they have the ability to play at this level, but they need to improve the discipline and cut-out the unforced errors......... Hartpury looked a decent all round side, and fly-half Balzagette controlled operations for them.
