Predictions:
Ampthill 0 v 5 Cornish Pirates - Pirates looking really good now and can’t see any slip-ups here
Jersey 5 v 1 Coventry - Jersey have had a week off which won’t have done them any harm. Coventry should start to improve but I don’t think they’ll win on the Island
Doncaster 5 v 1 Nottingham - obviously Covid dependant but hopefully this game gets the all clear because it’s one of my favourite games of the season. Donny should take it but this game is normally tight
Bedford 5 v 2 London Scottish - Bedford are the great unpredictables, given their recent improvements Scottish should be right in this one and could sneak it but going for a home win
Richmond 4 v 1 Ealing - no, don’t adjust your glasses. Mighty Mond always get up for this game and they beat Ealing on their last league visit to the RAG two years ago. I just have a feeling about this fixture…. If Ealing aren’t right on their mettle I think they could get turned over.

Ampthill 1 v Cornish Pirates 4 - A's were much better in the second half of the game against Ealing, and if they can keep that up, then they'll give Pirates a very tough match.
Jersey 5 v Coventry 0 - Coventry improving, but not fast enough.
Doncaster 5 v Nottingham 0 - A 'get well' game for Donny.
Bedford 4 v London Scottish 1 - Funny feeling that this will be closer than most expect.
Richmond 0 v Ealing 5 - I reserve the right to change this after I see the squads. Ben Ward has a history of putting out a weakened team with no chemistry and getting turned over. That said, it is a very short away trip against a part-time outfit.

Ampthill 1 v Cornish Pirates 5 - Pirates weren't tested too hard this weekend so should have enough steam in the boiler room to make this one happen.
Jersey 4 v Coventry 1 - Coventry improving now some players are coming back could just as easy go Jersey 1 v Coventry 4
Doncaster 5 v Nottingham 1 - The boys better pull their socks up or it could be grim
Bedford 5 v London Scottish 1 - Scottish may make Bedford work for their money
Richmond 0 v Ealing 5 - Sorry Richmond but I can't see this gong any other way - but go out there and treat this as your cup final.

Amps 1-4 Pirates This should be a close hard game and if Pirates cant keep their discipline could easily go the other way.
Jersey 4-1 Cov Two well matched squads with loads of injuries but at home I see Jersey winning by 4-5 points
Donny 5-0 Nottingham - At home Donny by 10-15 points with 4 tries
Blues 5-0 Exiles - LS improving but Blues backs to give them a comfortable win
Mond 0-5 Ealing - This could easily be another banana skin but Ealing should grind a win out.

Hi CK42. Regret the game won’t be streamed, don’t believe any club have streamed games this season with the exception of the Pirates. There will be live commentary available via BBC Jersey. Just a reminder while I’m on that KO is 3pm & tix must be bought online in advance, they won’t be available at the gate… Thumbs Up

Ampthill 4-1 Cornish Pirates. Pirates are a top side but The As keep surprising everyone, especially in their own back yard.
Jersey 5-0 Coventry. An encouraging result for Coventry last week but Jersey will show them no mercy on the island.
Doncaster 5-0 Nottingham. Doncaster will be looking to forget last Saturday's result and what better way is there than a local derby against a team that is struggling.
Bedford 5-0 London Scottish. A good crowd at Goldington Road should see a comfortable home win.
Richmond 0-5 Ealing Trailfinders. I can see Ealing losing again to some of the top sides this season, but they should win easily against all the part time sides.

Ampthill 4 v Cornish Pirates 1 … The Mob were unlucky not to beat the Reds in jersey and if i am honest, i was disappointed with the Pirates when they were over. So on that basis alone, i am going for a tight home win.

Jersey 5 v Coventry 0 … Cov had a good win last week against The Blues and will want to follow that up with a strong performance at The Stade. This game may be coming a little too soon for an improving side.

Doncaster 5 v Nottingham 0 … A lot depends on the weather, but if conditions are decent, then it would be a shock for it not to be a convincing home win. That said, Nottingham may have a huge amount to say about that!

Bedford 5 v London Scottish 0 … Sorry LS, but the Bedford backs are just too strong. If the LS forwards can starve Bedford of the ball and keep it up their jumpers for 80 minutes, then they may have some hope. Otherwise, it could be a long afternoon.

Richmond 1 v Ealing 4 … Oh my word, this is a banana skin if ever I saw one. Mond are a very capable side and at the RAG can be difficult to beat. A close win for the favourites, but it could be very close.

The 1.30pm kick off at Amps is helpful I'll stream & watch the first half and should still make it all the way down South to St Peter for a 3pm kick off.

Ampthill 1 - 4 Cornish Pirates - It would not surprise me if Amps won this
Bedford 5 - 0 London Scottish  - Scottish getting stronger . .  might be a good battle but Blues should have too much
Doncaster 5 - 0 Nottingham - Bounce back but a tough encounter
Jersey 5 - 1 Coventry  . .  weather might even it up, but at home Red should be too strong.
Richmond 0 - 5 Ealing - Richmond just have too many injuries to starting players . . . I hope I am wrong . . but it would be the biggest ever shock!

By the time I set off all the car parking at the club will be full so I will end up at the airport or at St Peter's Parish Hall north of the runway - I'm a seasoned traveler tho mate and have actually ventured East of the tunnel a couple of times this year - you can actually see France from over there!

Jersey Reds vs Coventry Rugby

Stade Santander International Arena

Saturday, December 11th, 2021.

Kick-off 3.00 pm.

15 Sam Aspland-Robinson; 14 Rob Stevenson; 13 Andy Forsyth; 12 Tom Griffiths; 11 Louis James; 10 Tony Fenner; 09 Josh Barton; 01 Dan Richardson, 02 Joe Richardson, 03 Phil Boulton (C), 04 Max Williams, 05 Jonathan Kpoku, 06 Adam Peters, 07 Aaron Hinkley, 08 Fred Betteridge.

16 Seb Blake, 17 Luc Jeannot, 18 Will Hurd, 19 Nile Dacres, 20 Tom Ball, 21 Joe Snow, 22 Evan Mitchell, 23 Rob Knox.

Three new injuries in Coventry's 'bodies on the line'  victory against Bedford last week. Add one in warmup before the game. Yet another hooker making his debut this week, and a dedicated winger playing at full back, as no fit 15s. The misery in Coventry's physio room continues.

starting Fifteen for Ealing vs. Richmond at 1500 11th December:  A lot of continuity from last week, with the one key change being Malon Al-Jiboori coming into the starting side. I might be biased in favor of the US international, but I think he has played better than what I've seen from Northcote-Green. I'm also glad to see Rayn Smid on the bench, which tells me that whatever kept him out of the side last week can't be that serious. Personally, I'd hope that he isn't needed and can rest up. Speaking of returnees - Pat Howard is back in the squad as well, a welcome return. Overall, I'd like to see a bit more grunt in the scrum, but I think that this team will have more than enough to get the job done at the RAG.

Game of two halves in Jersey today.
Played in terrible gloomy conditions, fog and almost continual drizzle. Could hardly see across the pictch let alone the full length
Defo a day for up the jumper rugby you'd have thought but not to be. In the first half the Reds were great; dominant up front, lineout working fine, full of enterprise and flair with both wingers seeing more ball in 40 minutes than they usually do in a season and getting three good tries. The finish for the first one in the top corner was excellent with the wet ball to contend with on the floor.
Then the half time break, bars full of happy Reds fans enjoying a beer and thinking this is done and dusted and predicting the final score. The team perhaps thought on similar lines and went to sleep for the second half and watched Coventry get not only back into their game but scoring tries and deserving to pull almost level.
Hope that the players get a helluva hairdryer for that sloppy finish.
Ok did enough on the day but you cannot just switch off at this level. Anyone 'd think this was England in Ozzie.........

Phone ran out of battery at the RAG. 2nd Half was much better than the first half for Ealing, mostly powered by bringing on club captain Rayn Smid, who re-energized and re-organized the side. The main problem that I saw from Ealing today (and recently in general) is that they are not attacking the ball. When there's a chip over, a loose ball, or a clearance, they are too happy to fall back and hope that the ball comes to them instead of running onto it. Two of Richmond's tries came from that kind of situation. The only player that I'll give a pass on that is Simon Uzokwe, who was immense again today. Richmond played an almost error-free match, and pushed Ealing hard all day. Of note: this was almost certainly the largest Ealing away contingent that I've ever seen. I'd estimate maybe three hundred.

Totally agree with the above. Rayn Smid poking the metaphorical forefinger into 14 chests made all the difference. Ozokwe was outstanding, but the run away player of the match was the Richmond fly half - exquisite kicking all afternoon BUT never predictable - look and learn, Ealing.

Half time this season after 10 games & Ealing  just 3 points clear of Pirates with Jersey & Donny following behind but not out of sight - still a great contest.

Defo a day for up the jumper rugby you'd have thought but not to be. Agree with your analysis 'coaster... and yes Harvey Biljon was unhappy with the way Jersey tuned out in final half-hour. Fair play to Cov, with an injury list even longer than our's, to get back to 29-24 - by the time the game restarted it was the last play, so with the kick going deep they need to go 85m to get an equalising try - would have been quite the miracle comeback. Mind you, 2 or 3 Jersey penalty concessions could still have done it, but as it was they battled for a few phases but were then forced into an error and it was FT.

Reds 7 behind leaders & 4 behind CP - worth pointing out that we have a game in hand...

So probably not out of sight mate and I seem to think Ealing may have to travel to St Peter in the second half of the season...... now that could be a decent game to watch.

A good win by Donny against Nottingham today in dismal, cold and grey conditions at Castle Park. It was incessant rain for most of the second half. Donny played well and won convincingly but it was mainly through the forwards, the backs were redundant for a lot of the match. On a more sober note, only 812 people turned up to watch. We’ve still not got a crowd above 1,000 this season, attendances seem to be on the decline and I don’t know why. Particularly when we’re having our best season for a while. Just a couple of other points to make, firstly there was a lengthy injury in the second half to a Nottingham player which required the stretcher and the game to be stopped for 10 minutes or so, obviously hope he’s OK because it looked nasty. Secondly, I thought the referee today was excellent, Sara Cox is one of the better referees in this league. She doesn’t feel the need to make herself the “star of the show “ like some of the male referees do. I thought she was pretty fair and consistent with both teams.

A decent scrum effort from the forwards before the third.

I cant remember another match at St Peter when all 8 tries were scored by the team playing up the slope!

Anyone from Nottingham know when your article on last weekends match will appear on the website - I always like to read the oppositions viewpoint on the game.
