L Scottish 1-4 Ampthill. It depends on who LS have available and how the As perform on a Friday night, but I think the away side will just pip it.
Nottingham 1-5 Ealing. But what do I know.
Cambridge 1-5 Hartpury. Both sides will be wanting to win this one but I think Hartpury might have the pedigree.
Pirates 5-0 Caldy. Possibly close at halftime but the Pirates to pull away as Caldy tire.
Coventry 5-1 Doncaster. An interesting one. Coventry should be motivated though after their last time out.

London Scottish 1 vs 4 Ampthill, loads of Quins but Mob have enough

Nottingham 0 vs 5 Ealing, Ealing need to show how dominant they are

Cambridge 1 vs 5 Hartpury, Cambridge will have targeted this one!

Cornish Pirates 5 vs 2 Caldy, big Caldy pack could do enough to get the result.

Coventry 1 vs 4 Doncaster Knights, Knights looking strong this year

London Scottish 4 vs 1 Ampthill, RAG can be very tough, and I think Scottish have lots of Quins

Nottingham 1 vs 5 Ealing, Ealing doing lots of rotation, which I don't quite understand given how early in the season this is.

Cambridge 1 vs 5 Hartpury, I fear for Cambridge this season.

Cornish Pirates 5 vs 1 Caldy, Caldy are capable of a surprise, but probably not at the Mennaye.

Coventry 4 vs 1 Doncaster Knights, Cov looking to bounce back at home.

Really quite proud of Notts. David Williams once again showing what a class player he is. Yes we lost but a TBP against Ealing is no mean feat and not hugely far from an LBP also. Well done Nottingham.

I thought Nottingham gave a great account of themselves tonight. Honestly thought they played the more attractive rugby. It’s no wonder Ealing get very little crowd for a side with aspirations to get into the premiership. Don’t get me wrong some games you just have to find a way to win but crikey.

Not a bad turnout. Happy with progress on that side of things.
I know quite a few Sky Blues fans that went, so that helped slightly, but overall a decent trajectory.

1300 at Cambridge.

Cambridge started well, but could not score.
Hartpury had that first half burst which put the game beyond doubt.
Cambridge had the Hartpury scrum on roller skates, but only won one scrum advantage, we scored off that move, so it was not even a penalty.

Cambridge won the second half, albeit by a point.
We just need to find out how to play for 80 minutes and to get on the right side of the team of three.

Let’s see how they get on with the slope next week.

Cannot believe it’s over 40 years since we played competitively (think might have been a preseason more recently).

Not knowing Redriuth, but if you don’t know Goldington Road. A corner drops North to South, West to East creating a pitch with a tricky slope.
Many visiting teams struggle to read the pitch.

I think Blues will rotate a few players to give them more game time but Blues at home and the way we are playing should be eyeing up 50+.

Cambridge v Bedford, I think we have had two preseason games in the last 15 years.
One here, when we were riding high in Nat 1, the first time, when we beat you.
And one there, which we lost.

I watched the live stream and it was great to see two decent sides - both playing to win. Pirates took their chances well and deserved the win but Ravers forwards in particular always kept them in the hunt for a bonus point. The field looked in great condition given the weather and even the commentary was more balanced than usual. The naughty boys step looked more sphazelnutly populated than I remember it but I still wish I could have been there to enjoy the banter. Have a great season lads.

A team plays in a defined way based on weaknesses identified in their opponents - if line out defence is seen as something to exploit why not.

True but when you are the No. 1 team, teams try to adapt to stop you.

It also depends how you are coached. You would expect a try (I think) in 6 in total to have come from open play (like a kick return, turnover), the only variation was from a lineout (15 ish metres out) which did go to the backs initially, rather than the backs joining the maul (not from the back either).

Ealing Trailfinders could not breach the Bedford Blues lineout defence in our recent game away at Goldington Rd. In the past their line out  defence was very poor....sieve like. Ealing adapted very quickly a scored several tries else where. Historically Ealing Trailfinders are in the Guiness book of records for most tries in a season and in one particular season had the league record for not one wing but both.
Whatever it takes.

Ealing have always tried to play an expansive game but the current trend of the driving lineout and the boring box kick have changed the game beyond recognition.

We have got a new comms manager who doesn’t seem to think that match reports are important- a major bug bear for the Knights faithful. If you want a match report here goes: we arrived, we got spanked, we went home tails between our legs….. that should suffice don’t you think?

What I think any match report from the Cov Donny game would show, and the tryligjts link provid by Kimbo would illustrate very clearly is that is not necessary to score all your tries from 5m lineouts.
