Well after a bit of a break hopefully we will be back this weekend and here is now what has become Week 14
MOTD looks like Wimbldon who have gone from top to 5th in what seems like a short space of time against Hertford who are the form side with 8 on the bounce. It looks like it wil be mild of Saturday but raining so proabaly lower scores than pre Christmas
Brighton Sidcup Dorking Maidenhead North Walsham Wetscombe Park Sevenoaks CS Stags Sutton & Epsom Havant Tunbridge Wells Tring Wimbledon Hertford
Good to be back

At present all games are on but we will know more after tonight’s RFU Covid committee meeting.

I know we get more cynical as we get older but please don't expect any decisions or leadership from our governing body - once the gin cabinet has been emptied and the navels have been sufficiently contemplated it will all be left to the individual clubs to deal with the situation themselves!

Decision to be released at noon tomorrow, but for now games are on.

I reckon the RFU will continue with the guidance given for the fixtures the week before Christmas...meaning leave it for the clubs to decide but call every game off anyway🙄 !!!! https://www.englandrugby.com/news/article/update-on-community-game-fixtures-for-17-19-december" rel="nofollow - https://www.englandrugby.com/news/article/update-on-community-game-fixtures-for-17-19-december

leaving the gin-swilling and omphaloskepsis to one side for the moment, isn't leaving individual clubs to make a decision the best approach?
The governing body can't realistically force two teams to play each other, and I also can't see why they should instruct two teams whose squads are mostly fit, have been following protocols, and who wish to stage a game, that they cannot play...

It's been broadcast to clubs but it bascially says that the game before Christmas one was just a one-off. From this weekend onwards, regular regulation 22 applies. So the games are on.

One has to ask what the point was of cancelling games that could have gone ahead before Christmas if we are carrying on as normal now. Case numbers are enormously higher than a few weeks ago so it just makes no sense.
Perhaps the G&T brigade had to be seen to be doing something.

I'm sure it was done with a good heart in mind to avoid risk of players catching it before Christmas meaning they may miss time with their families. But now Christmas is over, back to business as usual.

Brighton 5 Sidcup 1 Not much between them so going with home advantage Dorking 5 Maidenhead 0 42 points in the table between them so can see past Dorking North Walsham 5 Westcombe Park 0 Westcombe Park have certainly improved but I don't think they have beaten anyone above them in the League so comfortable home win Sevenoaks 5 CS Stags 0 Not much to say Sutton & Epsom 1 Havant 5 I have given up backing S&E to surprise this year Tunbridge Wells 5 Tring 1 I think TW are better than table so this is my surprise pick Wimbledon 2 Hertford 5 Toss of a coin but going with Hertford as Wimbledon seem to be in a lot of close run results lately
Just as a reminder as a slight tweak for 2022, if by some miracle
someone does get 7 results and points spot on it is now a 10pt BP with still 3

Dav2Dave - easy answer - depends what type of contract they're on, salaried or paid per game in which case your answer would be yes and no respectively
I would also add that I wouldn't expect many to be "salaried" at this level so not as big a problem as you might be thinking

Cost wasn’t even thought about to be honest, players health and well-being was only factor considered but good question. The answer being, no, all Combe players are on pay to play contracts, no retainers or guarantees etc.

I must take my hat off to sevenoaks ability to recruit players from overseas countries with closed borders for the majority of the last 2 years.
They each scored trys yesterday so obviously well chosen and to get them over in the middle of a global pandemic with no assistance with flights accommodation or jobs must have been quite the conversation.
The lure of a free "Mighty Oaks" sticker to go in the Range Rover is strong!!

7oaks are staunch in their commitment against paying players, and receive benefits on the back of this, they received a £25k cash grant during lockdown to ‘help with costs’ (not from the RFU to add). Does anyone actually believe their multiple foreign imports have all received zero material benefit? One import was called up to train with the Tongan squad during the autumn internationals, yet he’s paid to fly himself half way round the world during a pandemic to play at level 5 for diddly squat

I'm assuming all of this Sevenoaks stuff is purely speculation and a bit of friendly ribbing or is there more to it than meets they eye? I mean, surely given the previous situation with Medway and Old Dunstonian's and the examples that was set then, a club that brings in 4 overseas players is bound to raise some questions, even more so when is was achieved during a pandemic. Sevenoaks appear to be a very well run outfit so surely they wouldn't have been so sloppy (or arrogant) to have offered material benefits such as flights, accommodation etc to these guys would they?
Kentishman (not Kentish Man), you seem to know the inner workings of Sevenoaks since switching allegiances, can you shed any light or at least confirm that these are completely unfounded rumours and that Sevenoaks haven't actually done anything wrong?

Spoke to a few sevenoaks fans yesterday and it seems it's all above board and being blown out of proportion (I can't see them being that dumb as to fly in players and pay them!) One thing I will say is Sevenoaks were very very good yesterday, easily the best team we've played and their fly half was outstanding...they will go up if they maintain performances like that for sure Good to speak with Ghanaian eagle and to get the story behind his wrongly spelled forum name..by the way hope I ruined your game video by getting my ugly mug on it while it was left unattended 🥴

Actually I think it was West Harbour against Manly. He made four appearances for West Harbour in the Shute Shield from what I have read. The Shute Shield is the Premier competition in Sydney and its teams can sometimes include current Australian Internationals and squad representatives of the Waratahs franchise.
