Ivybridge v Exeter Uni HW Ivy good at home Uni only 1 win on the road
Launceston v Drybrook HW Launceston capable of winning against most teams early season form not so good but have picked up a few good results.
Maids v Camborne HW Maids generally good at home
Blues v Brixham AW Fisherman back on it
Okehampton v Bracknell HW Okes still to lose at home
Weston Super Mare v Barnstaple HW Tough one this 1st v 2nd. Again WSM yet to lose at home, Barum can be a bit enigmatic. Going with WSM at home also having had a week off last week.

Just 1 away looks ominous

Wish Id kept the faith!
Blues come from 7 20 at HT to score last min try & difficult conv to win 20 21.
Two home wins on the trot... Have we turned the corner?
Fair play to the Brixham fans who made the journey and were great fun/banter

I would have thought it will be played at the 1st opportunity after the NEW year rather than in between.

Why do they only come alive in the 2nd half of every game? (great win though Smile)

Brix had the edge in the 1st hf but score distorted by Newbury talisman No8 Josh Winfield picking up a silly yellow. Brix spun it wide and went over.
2nd half Brix seem to tire had a couple of yellows the 2nd right to their scrum half just before the end which probably gave the space for Newbury centre Toby Holland to go over.

Look like most games went to form with the exception of Newbury, who won, if only Newbury had been more Blue LOL he'd be sweating on a full house instead it's Surrey Ben who now is who backed the Blues along with Green machine. Star performer this week on his own is Surrey Ben Clap which takes him to the top of the league. Sidelined and Town bring up the rear with 2 Ouch Ouch. I see the WSM V Barnstaple fixture has been rearranged for 25th Jan along with the Exmouth v Drybrook fixture. So our league looks like this.

Surrey Ben                    59

Barum man                    57

Seaside mafia                56

Lucky                             53

Mr KFC                          53

Town                             52

Dingbat.                        52

Friendly prop                52

Front jumper.                52

Maidsboy                      50

Right Flanker                49

Sidelined                      48

Green machine.            48

Fat Bear                       45

Red Pete                      45

Anorak.                         43

Brix Phil                        42

Braders 1875.              41

Newbury Blue              41

LockNLoader               40

Trftrf                              40

As a Blues supporter i also had these thoughts! Every time I go against the Blues they seem to pull a big result out of the bag! Great win! The trouble i find is we seem to be so motivated when were the underdog but in games against teams close to us in the league standings we dont have the same fire in the bellies!

With no Bartlett, Doel, Stewart and still no sign of last years ever present forwards Davis and Erskine even making an appearance which, having spoken to a few fans around the club are uncertain where these guys are (any other Blues fans followers have any idea as i feel they could be a big boost to some extra muscle in that pack).

None the less, a big performance which was definitely needed having seen some of the other results and keeping in touch with the pack ahead of them in the table.

My understanding:

  • Josh Bartlett - long-term shoulder injury
  • Kyle Doel - has played most games recently but not last Saturday
  • Dylan Stewart - has made several appearances for the Stags in recent weeks (recovering from injury?)
  • Ryan Davis - just one appearance for the Stags (don't know why not more)
  • Tom Erskine - has made several appearances for the Stags in recent weeks (recovering from injury?)
Plus, another valuable player who has 'gone missing' is Rory Jones, who can play in the back row or at centre (apparently he cannot play this season due to work commitments). Another asset is that he can kick - what happens if Dan Thorne gets injured?

Thanks Anorak. Thats another good point for consideration! Good old Rory! A very good back up kicker he was too!

We discuss squad depth so much and especially as a young team having all of the above back from long term injury could be key to a strong second half of the season because all of the above mentioned players were key to the success of last season with such a dominant pack.

A lot of eyes will be of the re-attempt of the top of the table clash which will be an interesting one too!

An interesting first half of the season with so many exciting fixtures which will determine the outcome at the top and bottom of this league, a great and exciting season so far!
