WE've kicked a goal! That makes it 1-1 for the match, in the laws when I were a lad. Well, almost.
See you next week, ST.
Oh, it's 2-1 to Harrogate.

Roth 35 - 5 Wharfedale
A weekend Dale side fought well for 25 mins but an injury and yellow saw them struggle. Very dull game.
Titans will do well in the mud.

Full time here at Rudding’s Lane,
Harrogate 21 (0) Sedge 51 (5).
Gate have a useful pack and from that came their 3 tries, however Sedge with ball in hand, were far too much for the promoted side.
It’s good to be back. Have a great night all.
All the best.

was great to watch live rugby again and a close game between Worthing and Guernsey, which could have gone either way even to last minute, where Worthing scored a breakaway try to seal it. Guernsey probably didnt deserve no points from the game

Great game at Stourton Park, played by two highly committed teams. Great Banter, and doubtless one of my favourite fixtures in the calendar. Great company, generous in defeat, God awful blazers

Having been fortunate enough to attend Roth v Dale at Clifton Lane, I can't let another poster's description of it as 'very dull' go by...
I have to declare a sort-of interest in a way, as have enjoyed visits to both clubs - Dale just once almost a decade ago & Roth regularly during their time in Ch'ship. Both great clubs.
To start, you'd need a heart of stone not to find the whole return of league rugby to be joyous - people were in some cases seeing friends for the first time and relishing the chance to get back in the routine after so long, on a perfect day for rugby too.
Both sides were a bit rusty (shock horror) and Dale really took it to the hosts early on. The Roth pack may have had the likes of Quigley and Challinor on parade, but they weren't getting much change out of the opposing eight. Both sides were trying to attack and Dale took a deserved lead about 20 mins in with forwards & backs linking well, it was arguably the best try of the day. They obviously weren't expecting to score as it took more than a minute for the kicking tee to arrive, necessitating a drop-kicked conversion attempt.
This sparked the hosts into action and they managed 2 tries before the break to lead 15-5.
Roth got more powerful as the second half progressed and inevitably as the lead stretched beyond 20 points it became less of a spectacle. Not that it was one-sided: Dale kept going and were unlucky not to score again.
The home side had some artillery on the bench too - Matti Williams was at Worcester last season & looked good in the Championship during a loan spell with Jersey, but has now dropped down two levels.
Great afternoon & superb to catch up with old friends from Roth, with the pie + Iron & Steel being superb too...

Even with my spelling mistake, "a weakened Wharfedale Side" ..... I'm not sure my post could ever be classed as a match report. The people were really nice, genuine, rugby folk, the weather was good, the onion bhajis to die for, the match played in a great spirit, but at £16 if you are old, achy and want a seat, no parking, poor visibility from the south side, then it's not great value at N2N......or is that an unfair statement?.
There were 4 statements/opinions in my post:
"A weakend Dale side"
"fought well for 25 mins but an injury and yellow saw them struggle."
"Very dull game."
"Titans will do well in the mud."
I'll accept it wasn't VERY dull, just dull, but which of the others were unfair
I have seen far duller games and perhaps "very" was a bit over the top.
There was a 5 minute period where we reset scrums. then a yellow, then subs, I was almost asleep. Then with 27 point lead, total dominance, about 5 to go and Roth take the kick at Goal from a penalty.
Will Roth get promoted? Probably.

With only one promotion place - unless the Championship goes to 16 - and with Sedgley Park, Fylde, Ionians in the mix, I am not sure promotion is a given.

My money, if I was a betting man - which I’m not, would be on Rotherham getting promoted from N2N this season.

I think its a little early to be talking promotion and, with the RFU's current attitude towards travel expenses who would want it? I would always approve of ambition and I would say that there are some great Clubs in Nat 1. but, in reality, why swap 6 Yorkshire derbies and bigger match attendances for spending ££££'s on transport and hours on the motorway's travelling up and down the country?
Rotherham may be favourites, courtesy of bringing in some older ex-Donny forwards but they will be another year older should they go up.
There's a long way to go and, p.s. Camquin, that's 'Hull Ionians'.

Sorry Sid, I understood the history of the Hull clubs once - it is wonderfully convoluted.
Apparently there is a demand for three National leagues- Premiership, championship and National 1 with 42 or 44 teams involved. I was surprised. But that could be driven by clubs like Cambridge, the London clubs and possibly as far as Chinnor, where the travel in National 1 is less than in Nat 2 South - though that may not be the case with three leagues at level 4.
As you know, I do not believe the reorganization will actually solve the problems, and I would have done something much more radical. But that is a different thread.
