David vrs Goliath !!
Top of the table clash this weekend and although still early, could be pivitol come the end of the season.
With the World cup final on Saturday morning, and the top of the table clash in the afternoon it should be a great day at the shack on the hill.
The question is will a championship set up like Fylde be able to go away to Caldy and compete in hostile conditions at the shack ?
Caldy must be hoping that some Fylde players are away on international duty, but what you can depend on with the 7:30AM world cup start ...... come 2:15 Caldy with have a 21st man !!!
Will Big Eddy and Degsy be able to remember the game come Sunday morning ? Will both results fall the right way ? Could this upset the Blackpool based power house ????
Only Saturday night will we know the answers !

Nice post, Tiger Dome 2 ....... even though it does contain some contentious 'facts'
1/ Top of the table clash is right, but "There's many a slip 'twixt cup and lip"
2/ Hopefully conditions are never hostile at the shack ….. only on the pitch We look forward to welcoming old friends from Fylde
3/ Fylde are NOT Blackpool based... They're from Lytham St Annes ! That's like saying that Caldy are Liverpool based (Perish the thought)

1. Understood
2. Hostile comment was based on the conditions ...... last time I went, you could not have a fire on in fear of setting fire to the wooden club house ...... brrrrrrrrrrrr (the company and Degsy's hip flask kept me warm)
3. Can you please explain the last time Caldy came to play Tigers, the lack of hub caps left on vehicles in our car park ....... surely Caldy is in Liverpool ???????????????????

TD2, are you sure you're from Tigers, and not Luctonians? When we play them 'The Hub-cap Trophy' is up for grabs ( after their president made derogatory comments about the Caldy faithful having a predilection for collecting car-parts)
For your information …… Caldy is on The Wirral Peninnsula, which was in Cheshire until (Unpopular) boundary changes were made in 1974 when it became part of the new county of Merseyside *** Please update your records*** Thanks

God forbid we would steal hubcaps, when theres decent alloys on the Mercedes and Bentleys parked at the club. Some people have no standards.

The meeting of the only two unbeaten teams in the division - should be a cracker. The clubs have met on ten occasions and have shared wins/losses equally. Some of these games have been terrific and very close.
2017-18 Caldy 37-19 Fylde Fylde 9-34 Caldy
2010-11 Caldy 20-25 Fylde Fylde 55-29 Caldy
2009-10 Caldy 21-27 Fylde Fylde 25-28 Caldy
2008-9 Caldy 33-23 Fylde Fylde 23-22 Caldy
2007-8 Fylde 11-9 Caldy Caldy 22-7 Fylde
Only one player has played extensively for both clubs, the amazing Nick Royle. He's made 325 National League appearances including 7 seasons at Fylde, in his 6th at Caldy (plus 2 seasons in North Premier at Vale of Lune), numerous representative games for Lancashire, England Counties, Widnes RL and, of course many appearances for England 7s. And throughout these 17 seasons he's scored heavily at every level. His durability is extraordinary and I see that he's missed just four games in 5 and a bit campaigns at Paton Field.
I'm sure a decent number of Fylde supporters will make the trip to the windy hill and I hope the game lives up to the billing. Likely to be close once again.

This is almost like the National 2 Welsh Derby isn't it. Is it near Rexham?

Nick Royle's record is even more amazing if you add the number of tries he has scored . He has played in 336 National league and EDF Cup games and scored 282 tries, with 21 hat tricks or more the most tries in one game was 7. He is already by far the leading try scorer of all time in National leagues and with just 18 more tries to make 300 I believe that his record will never be broken.

Many thanks Seagoon, very generous offer which I'll take up at some stage. Unfortunately, it's my wife's birthday tomorrow, a desparate diary clash which I cursed when the fixtures were announced. Can I ignore her and the family meal in a local restaurant??? I need to protect my private bits.
Hope to see you at the Woodlands on 15th February.
It should be a tremendous match At only 7/8 games in, it won't define the season for either club but it will be an important bellwether of the respective strengths of the squads.
Good luck to everyone involved.

Be interesting to know how much Nick Royle has earned over his 336 games!! Probably more than playing 5 seasons in the Championship as a full time pro!

Why would it be interesting, Finkleman ? Are you on a 'zero hours contract' at minimum wage?
I know for a FACT that Nick could have earned more at other clubs, than at Caldy He's a really nice guy (off the field), too
