Esher will be playing Newport in a Centenary match on Friday 25th August. Esher’s founding members included former Newport members hence the black and amber shirts worn by both teams. Yet to decide who changes strip!
The other complication is which tackle law we play under as Wales have yet to make the change!

It's the return in the annual series, so makes sense. Sadly the 25th clashes with a family birthday, so I won't be travelling. Reckon there will be plenty Cov types there though. Time you were promoted!

I have heard Cambridge will play Chinnor and Carmarthen Quins.
The former subject to agreeing tackle laws.
The latter will be in Wales, as they came to Cambridge last season.
But I have not seen dates for either yet.

From my experience the vast majority of the Welsh Prem were more likely equivalent to National 1 - but this harkens back to the B&I Cup a few years ago things may have changed in the interim

First outing for Sedge today. Results don’t really matter that much for either club on pre-season games as the focus would be for good work outs and finishing the game with no injuries. Mission accomplished for both clubs. For those who are interested.
Sedge 40 Hull Ionians 5.

Echo ST's comments....
But for the record BSE 39 - BLACKHEATH 35 or there abouts.
Club brought a large and impressive squad and probably shaded the contest but a combination of mistakes and tigerish Bury defence kept them out. Bury scored a couple of cracking tries out wide...

To be pedantic GJ it was 36-33 but was a decent run out and lots of changes each period which made it a bit disjointed but it’s all about game time. Great to see 3 long term injuries getting game time on the road to recovery. Didn’t think the new tackle law changed the game dramatically and both teams managed it very well as did the ref. Decent day all round

National 1 has been a great league for some time.
It is easy to get relegated, and hard to be promoted, so you need to be good, or lucky, to stay there.
I suspect Richmond has the depth of playing numbers that it will compete with Sale, Rams & Rosslyn Park for the promotion spot.
Plymouth should be up there, but travel seems to be a problem. While it helps make the Brickfields a fortress, unless they can find the money for more overnight stays, they all too often suffer from early morning coach trips.
At the other end, Taunton, Darlington MP, Moseley and Sedgley Park could be looking nervous, but nobody can be complacent.
But there is a good reason I do not enter the prediction league. And even though the Blood and Sand are no longer in the National League, I will be setting that up in the next couple of days.

I don't think the Lions have a 5 year plan for promotion just yet, I think it took three years into the plan to win the last promotion, it would be nice to win our home games at least, after that who knows, last season they lost just one game and ironically that was at home.
This Thursday we have an evening pre season game against near neighbours Hinckley, that will be the final warm up game before the visit of Sale FC, a nice easy start then................................not.

I Think that Lions will seriously need to look at the regulations for the Championship to see how they will be able to manage their facilities and ground, and the Fines which many championship clubs have to pay if they cannot manage to pass the Audits by PwC, A number of clubs are already paying significant amounts of money to the RFU for failing. I would also be interested how they are going to handle large crowds(average crowds in Championship are around 1000) together with parking arrangements. All this will need to be part of any plan.

I think you are getting way ahead here, my tongue in cheek comments are not to be taken too seriously, I am sure the Lions know what is coming and they know it ain't going to be easy in Nat 1 let alone getting anywhere close to promotion. The thing is as of yet we don't actually know what we are playing for, the RFU drop hints of a total revamp that will or may include Nat 1 going to two leagues in 24/25 season, so the Lions could be in North or South Nat 1 if they manage to avoid being relegated.

I followed some of the pre season fixtures online last Sat afternoon, and fair play to Leicester Lions, it looked like a much closer game than the final scoreline suggests against Cov, who are a full time professional top end Champ club with some serious young talent mixed in with some real experience, so well done to the Lions on giving a very good account of yourselves on the BPA plastic, against a team who were, until a few months ago, 2 leagues above you
I agree with what you say about the uncertainty from 24/25 onwards. Unfortunately for current Nat 1 clubs, I can see the Prem and Championship becoming Prem 1 and Prem 2 after this coming season, and most likely ringfenced with no relegation to or promotion from Nat 1, certainly for the next few years whilst the idea is bedded in and clubs, stakeholders, sponsors, TV corporations etc are consulted on its feasibility moving forwards.
I just can't see the big wigs wanting any more potentially economically fragile semi pro clubs joining the fray and rubbing shoulders with established Prem clubs, over and above those that currently make up the Champ. Never has the idea of being promoted based on more drawn games been so important for the Blood and Sand than as it was last season

Shouldn't you have said "I just can't see the big wigs wanting any more potentially economically fragile semi pro clubs joining the fray and rubbing shoulders with the already established 'unsustainable and economically fragile' Prem clubs".
We were told some time ago that season 24/25 would see Nat 1 go regionalised with, as you say Prem 1 & Prem 2 above. I believe that this is now not as certain as it was but is still on the table.

If as expected N1 is divided for the 24-25 season it is highly probable that their may not be any relegation from N1 at the end of this season.
As usual who is where will depend on what happens to the Premiership and Championship - especially with the possible reappearance of Wasps, Irish and Worcester in level 2
