| No predictions from me other than the demise of local rugby…..so many clubs have struggled in recent seasons to get a 2nd XV out on the pitch on a regular occasion. Two clubs who spring to mind are Worthing and Tonbridge Juddians. So I find it hard to get on board with the process that both these clubs have adopted using Quins Academy and Development players to play first team rugby. I see that one of the TJ centres (outstanding player) has been dropped to the bench tomorrow at the expense of a Quins player. This has happened for years with Worthing. The only outcome I see here is those regular club players getting p*ssed off and either leaving the club or even worse, the game. |

As you are obviously privy to selection at other clubs Kentish, do you know why last weeks player of the round is also on the bench and why the metronymic Tom White has been left out this week after a great display V Esher? I would love to know how long these Quins players have been training with the squad before being given a start as well. Looking at the league tables, it also appears that after being promoted last season, TJs 2s are 3rd in their league and have not missed a fixture. Regular u23 games with Canterbury and Dorking which are keeping uni boys involved and the Academy 1s about to win another Kent title. Adding in a dominant group of under 13-16 girls taking cups and titles on the way to joining the academy group next year. ‘By the looks of things anyway things seem to be very healthy’ Im sure you have your finger on the pulse!

Forgot to do my predictions last week so no real point in continuing.......but hey-ho. Barnes 5 Bury St Edmunds 0 Canterbury 5 Guernsey 1 Dorking 5 Henley 1 North Walsham 1 Esher 5 Westcombe Park 5 Old Albanians 1 Wimbledon 0 Tonbridge Juddians 5 Worthing 5 Sevenoaks 2 Oh.....and Kentishman.....I take your point and I myself became pretty disenchanted by my club after the Quins years. I don't know if this arrangement has changed, but I do think that there appears to be fewer young Quins lads about these days ? Perhaps somebody more in the know can help ? I also suspect that if these lads are available on any given week, you have to play them. I don't believe that any of it is helpful as regards building a side for the future, or indeed, populating a second XV in the near term.

| I wouldn’t say I’m privy to selection. Social media tends to give it away. I think you may be mistaken regarding the 3rd team. They don’t have one. Just like last season they won the league with their 3rd team despite not having a 2nd team! Very strange. Can’t help you with their selection criteria other than to say if Tom White was available and fit he would be starting. |
