Scottish 1 v 5 Coventry - Coventry should win but I think Scottish are a bogey team for Coventry, so almost went the other way Nottingham 5 v 2 Cornish Pirates - Think this could go either way, but Nottingham tend to start strong and then fall away Doncaster Knights 5 v 2 Ampthill - Knights to win, but Ampthill could surprise Knights if they are off their game Bedford Blues 5 v 1 Caldy - Should be a high scoring game with Blues going to sleep to let some late Caldy tries in Cambridge 4 v 1 Chinnor - Could go either way, going with home advantage and now Championship experience and could be an important match at the bottom end of the table Ealing Trailfinders 5 v 0 Hartpury - virtually all Ealing matches should be 5 - 0 No need to include me in the Prediction league assuming it is running, as I usually end up missing many weeks!

Apparently the RFU have instructed Doncaster to wear their change strip because of a clash with Amptill? Shouldn't it be the away team who changes. Just found out it's because both Amptill strips are too much of a clash with Donny's home strip.

I thought the home team changes, think of it as your main and change kit. the home team has access to all their kit, and the expectation is the travelling team would bring 1 kit, their main kit, then in the event of a clash the home team have the ability to change, hence you would typically see the home team in their change kit. That's how I think it works/should work, but I am sure others more in the know will correct me if I am wrong! Obviously, as you added, there can be some teams where both kits clash, then there needs to be some further planning to mitigate that!

Regulation 13.6.3i.e. It is the responsibility of the AWAY team (NOT THE HOME TEAM) to change shirts if there is a clash of colours. Obviously clubs ought to have enough nous to ensure that their 'home' and 'away' kits are completely different though. ------------- Our Club |

Home teams have traditionally changed. I do remember though London Welsh came to Blues in their away blue kit once. I think they may have done that to try and wind us up, as we already said we were playing in our normal blue one. The result was Blues got out their old red 3rd kit and gave it to London Welsh to play in their traditional colours. Welsh then covered up the Blues logo.

Here we go again: London Scottish 0 - 5 Coventry Nottingham 1 - 4 Cornish Pirates Doncaster 4 - 1 Ampthill Bedford 5 - 1 Caldy Cambridge 4 - 1 Chinnor Ealing 5 - 0 Hartpury From a Doncaster perspective, Iâm a little nervous about this opening fixture. Ampthill beat us twice last season and are never an easy team to beat. They will see all the hype about Donny during the summer and theyâll be massively motivated to give us a bloody nose. | From level 2 to 4 it has always been the away side that has has to change. This has been the case for the last 21 seasons of my involvement as kit guy for my club. It's not old school I know but if you have 13 shirt sponsors on your home kit they get a little peeved if they don't see their name on the shirt. Change strips can last for at least 5 years if you only need to wear it 2 or 3 times a year. |

Very many years ago when I started watching rugby I recall this being the case but I guess it changed with the advent of professionalism, league rugby etc. With regard to changing shirts Harlequins didn't have a change shirt for 140-odd years until the Premiership ordered them to not only have one but to wear it on occasions. Yet another instance of them getting it wrong in my opinion.

London Scottish 2 - 5 Coventry. A closer game than it might be if played later in the season, but the full-time outfit to win after a solid pre-season. Nottingham 1 - 4 Cornish Pirates. Ditto here, but less tries being run in at a greasy Lady Bay. Doncaster 5 - 1 Ampthill. Donny to start off on the right foot this year and give Ealing a run for their money at the top, maybe. Bedford 5 - 0 Caldy. The honeymoon period for The Ravers is over, and the rest of the league has worked them out. Proficient up front, but lacking creativity and flair in the backs. Many scores here to please the Blues faithful. Cambridge 4 - 1 Chinnor. Game of the week, for the fact it'll be a real dogfight from start to finish (much like their seasons as a whole) scrapping for points to keep the Champ dream alive (along with Caldy). Home advantage and a fuller pre-season to swing it for the B&S this time. Ealing 5 - 0 Hartpury. Ealing to drop very few points all season, and this time next year (deservedly) starting their maiden voyage in the Premiership.

The Blues website says Northampton Saintsâ George Smith runs out in blue for the first time having been chosen in the engine room, while having settled in during pre-season but he hasn't played a pre-season game with us.

What Ealing should have done in the last few years and what they have done have been two different things. Yes theyâve won the league a couple of times but theyâve been far from infallible in general. I think they will win the league this season but I donât think it will be as easy for them as you make out. The key word was "virtually" all. Blues will fancy their chances at home, but the reality is the squad Ealing can put out even with 10 injured players, should still be the best match day squad of any other Championship side can put out. Generally the weak link at Ealing has been the DoR. E.g Losses to Caldy and Scottish.

RFU look at both the kits submitted by the clubs before the seasons starts ie both the primary and 2nd strip and request what they feel is the best option to make the spectators and officials lives easiest. The kit matrix is sent out several days ahead of the fixture so there should be no issues and both side have the opportunity to request alternative solutions should there be a better option that complies with the league regulations

I am looking forward to visiting Cambridge today for the 1st time and when looking online to book a ticket noticed the car park at the ground is sold out. Is parking outside the ground easily accessible and does anyone have any advice as to where to park? |

Nottingham fully deserved the losing BP. They dominated the second half and it was only solid defending that kept them out. A very entertaining game, with both teams very strong in defence. Scrum time was a complete lottery with penalties pretty evenly distributed against both teams. When Pirates went down to 14 I felt like the momentum was with Nottingham, but Pirates actually scored a 7 pointer in that spell and that proved to be pivotal. A big blow for Pirates was losing inspirational skipper John Stevens to a serious looking knee injury. ------------- *Stalwart |

It is still a very good starting team, we donât know much about the Saints lads on the bench but I still feel we should have more than enough for Caldy. We donât really lose with Worley instead of Adamson and then Lennon and Garside for Day. The real concern this season is no proper 2nd fly half. Herman I think could be a bit of a star signing and Smith (Saints) via Coventry is a bit of a unit/athlete in 2nd row. The forecast I see is 32% chance of rain and then cloud.
