Storm BERT produced a horrible day to play rugby for everyone in Nat 2 East Our game at Oxford Quins was a game played in cold driving rain and very strong winds but we arrived to a very warm welcome by Jack and Ron and their staff who offered us superb hospitality with a few beers and a great buffet to warm us up A very close game dictated by the conditions saw us come away with a hard fought win and put us back to winning ways. A few surprises namely TJ's loss at Bury, Sevenoaks win at Westcombe park and maybe Worthings win at Colchester raised a few eyebrows ! Another surprise occurred on our journey home which was disrupted for about 30 minutes when we had to wait for a replacement coach as the windscreen wipers gave up under the constant battering from the elements ! Here's hoping for better weather when we go again in a couple of weeks ๐

Hi Tony...good to meet the other week at bse.... Hope you got home ok...the joys of travel in Nat2....took over 5 hours from Canterbury last week due to an accident on the M11...such is life. Some interesting results this week, not least ours I guess....opened up the top of the league whilst Worthing and Sevenoaks wins means the bottom is also very tasty!

GJ2 Yeah likewise good to meet you at BSE...Our win at your place is still being talked about down here, and will be for ages i reckon. Our come back that day was crazy !! 5hrs from Canterbury!!!! Blimey that sounds painful๐ฌ As you say yesterday's results have mixed things up a bit just as the league was settling into some sort of order Enjoy the weekend off and look forward to welcoming you & BSE in the middle of March

Two good away wins for Havant certainly keeps the predictors on their toes.
I don't think I'll ever get the hang of this league

And me too! I was tempted to go for BSE win, but their form hasnโt been good lately, but many congratulations to them on that fine win. Table is hotting up now, we are slowly moving up the table now, 6 straight wins now, TJ away next for us, fingers crossed for a five point well earned when we went there two years ago!

went to Worthing today and must admit that I thought we had a chance of victory. Instead we were totally outplayed by an excellent Sevenoaks side, who used the conditions well. I see little hope of Worthing avoiding relegation now

We entertained High flyers Dorking yesterday and a certain deserved win got snatched away from us in the last 3 minutes!! We were 25 14 up with 3 minutes left on the clock and Dorking stunned the crowd with two converted tries to win 28 25 and leave us all scratching our heads as to what the hell just happened !!๐ Just goes to show that this league will bite you in the backside if you so much as blink !!

We travelled down to see this one Tony and it was a good old fashioned (entertaining) arm wrestle IMO. A great watch too (less the errors on both sides - which can be forgiven in the conditions). Both teams played really well and with 10 to go it was Havant that looked likely to add to their score in fairness, much to the delight of the noisy & hostile home support (and the DJ - quality tunes Sir). Nothing wrong with that, except for the supporter (or D. Head or Gob. Sh**e) in the middle of the stand, stood near the video box, who's language was truly foul all day (the club need to be careful of this behaviour, not pleasant for anyone and simply 'over the line' - characters like him get clubs into trouble if the officials 'choose' to hear it). Nonetheless, credit to Dorking who found the right match discipline & fitness levels needed up the tempo in the closing minutes and play right through the final whistle (sprint through the finish line as it were) grabbing the victory. A thoroughly entertaining game I wouldn't say Havant were robbed by any means but they would be right to feel the game was there for them (and Dorking couldn't have complained had this been the case).

Big Chief Had a good old chat with a few Dorking supporters afterwards in the bar and they said that We were one of the best sides that your boys had come up against this season which was good to hear and they really enjoyed the very partisan atmosphere in the stand .The stand at Havant is a great place to be, as i say very partisan but never ever unfriendly, yes you hear swearwords but I've never heard "all day foul language" in all my years of being a supporter We do sit right on the edge of what used to be Europes largest council estate so the demographic and way of life is a hell of a lot different from leafy Surrey Agree it was a very entertaining match and we really shouldve seen your boys off but the fact is we didn't ! and let another tight game slip from our grasp very similar situations have occurred away at Barnes and at home to Henley and TJ's so we have to be a bit more savvy i suppose we are new to this league and are still learning but I'm confident we can push on to annoy more teams and their supporters ๐ Colchester away is our next game I've never been there and looking forward to it, heard some great things about their place

Enjoy Colchester Tony...lovely new set up... Am looking forward to our first trip to Havant in the new year! I dont think there is anythihng wrong in having noisy partisan support...see Redurth or Wharfedale for details, Even the Barnes massive (all 19 of them) were noisy in celebrating our scrum being dismantled last week! Obviously there is no place for foul language and or personal abuse (not saying that happened) in our game...

GJ2 Agree ...what a lovely brand spanking new set up Colchester have, everything about the place is a great place to watch rugby. The travelling Havant Faithfull were quite impressed with the facilities and choice of beer on offer. The home fans were very much like us , down to earth and game for a laugh, we had some good banter with their lot and enjoyed a very close game of rugby . The result was a fair outcome and we were quite content to leave with 3 bonus points in the bag . Draws are quite a rarity in rugby but I think this was a fair outcome on the days proceedings a few surprises today with Sevenoaks turning over Guernsey and Canterbury beating Dorking keeps the league on its toes...all good in my opinion Onward to next week where we entertain Worthing a local derby at Hooks lane with an anticipated crowd of 1000 fans or more and hopefully a Christmas present of a home win to see us into the new year

Worthing looked a bit underpowered against us on sat they still have some excellent players though so I'm not sure writing them off this early is wise as they will score trys

Never wrote Worthing off just said "Hoping" for a win I would never give any team that psychological ammo

went to worthing v barnes today - my lot were slightly better in second half but game was over after 40 minutes. Think relegation and probably in last place is inevitable.
really disappointed by it all and would love to understand the causes of our demise - we have slowly got worse year on year from a team that was always top half at worst

Interesting league this year, Guernsey have a few games to catch up, strange to see their game v TJs not go ahead this weekend.
Barnes look strong, as do Canterbury.
Bottom 4 looks really competitive, be a interesting second half of the season there

Canterbury were unreal today only 5 points between us at their place but they were hard to live with in front of 800 fans at hooks lane they put 60 points on the board and I'd say they were the best side I've seen this season without doubt We've found it hard with the players we are missing but I think we'll be OK in this very tough league

Result of the day at Hooks Lane...Canterbury have to be the most improved side of the year (W Park worthy contenders) but even so, that was some victory. The title is still TJ's to lose, i can only see fixture congestion stopping them. Do we have a quality side like Rams, Chinnor, Blackheath that we have seen in recent years....I think not, but it is made for a more exciting title race. As for the dreaded drop...I fear our good friends at Worthing may be leaving us. I think Sevenoaks experience last year will give them enough nous to escape, meaning a straight fight between Oxford and Colchester. 9 points is a healthy lead but if Colchester can get a fit XV out then they have a chance. Watching 4 or 5 players leave the field injured yesterday, I still believe 4G pitches are not the panacea many believe and contribute to a lot of ankle / knee injuries.... As for my mob, well we are the leagues highest scorers....but we also are very pourus in defence so I guess its entertaining! (Great crowd by the way (850) for a proper derby between 2 clubs that like and loath each other in equal measure)

Dorking only have themselves to blame for the narrow loss yesterday as early in the 2nd half they had 3 consecutive penalties in front of the posts but each time kicked to touch and Henley disrupted it each time. Score was 12 - 13 at the time
It is all good backing yourself to score but when points are there for the taking get yourself in front and then play
Rant over

Oxford will be fine, play some decent rugby and will get bonus points to keep the gap from below and the pressure on sevenoaks
Not sure if Colchester have the ability to put a run together to catch sevenoaks and Oxford but as stated 9 points is doable
As for the top TJs in control at the moment but it's all finely balanced between the top three and Canterbury to cause all sorts of issues for those sides As with Guernsey if their DoR can stop complaining about how unfair everything is and coach
