Predictions: Nottingham 2 - 5 Ampthill Could just as easy be 5 - 2 Cornish Pirates 5 - 0 Richmond I think this is to be expected - The Menaye is a bit of a fortress London Scottish 1 - 5 Jersey Jersey to show their strength Coventry 2 - 5 Doncaster This one is difficult to call so going with my heart (26 - 28) Ealing 5 - 0 Hartpury No brainer
------------- Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny!

Top man DKF great initiative.Predictions:Nottingham 4-2 Ampthill A rare bird with Amps to score 4 tries and only lose by a couple of points - Notts to kick a shed load of pens and score 3 tries. Pirates 4-1 Mond At home Pirates to have just enough but Mond always play for the full 80. Scottish 3-3 Jersey Although 5-2 either way probably more likely - Genuinely great to have Scottish back where they belong and gutted I am grounded and cant go. Coventry 2-5 Donny Tie of the round between two very well matched teams who will both be in the mix at the end of season. Ealing 5 - 0 Hartpury Banker cricket score home win so howay pury my prediction gives you every chance of an upset - I'm usually wrong.
------------- Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

Nottingham 1-5 Ampthill. I agree with corporalcarrot but I think Ampthill will pull away in the final quarter. Cornish Pirates 5-0 Richmond. CP will be too strong for Richmond in Penzanze. London Scottish 1-5 Jersey. Jersey's greater experience in real games to take the day. Coventry 4-1 Doncaster Knights. Coventry are strong in their own fortress. Ealing 5-0 Hartpury College. Anything short of this will be a major upset.
------------- Always trying to stay bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

Nottingham 4 -1 Ampthill...Close game this first up. It will be interesting to see how Nottingham face up. Pirates 5 - 0 Mond...As much as i love Richmond, this is a really tough trip for the first round. Pirates are a great side, but add in the home advantage and.... LS 0 - 5 Jersey...Jersey have looked very strong defensively in pre-season and I fancy them to keep it tight, but still have teeth at the other end of the park. We have a new winger who I can't wait to see wearing red in the Championship. Absolute greased lightning!! Cov 1 - 4 Donny...I agree with CC, this is the tie of the round for me. Really hard to pick a winger, but will go for the Knights as they never stop coming at you. Could be a cracker. Ealing 5 - 0 Hartpury...Red hot favs for the title, at home, great pre-season, surely has to be a landslide home win doesn't it?
Great to be talking about proper league rugby again. Good luck everyone and please stay safe.

Nottingham 4 -1 Ampthill...Close game this first up. It will be interesting to see how Nottingham build this year with new coach and an even stronger link to Tigers. Pirates 5 - 0 Mond...Pirates have lost a few of their more recent stand out players so are re-building (again) it seems but travelling away to the Duchy for your first match is not an easy assignment.
LS 0 - 5 Jersey...Jersey seem to be pretty settled with their squad. A year off for LS may mean a while to get back up to speed
Cov 1 - 4 Donny...Could be a 4-1 result just as easily as my prediction
Ealing 5 - 0 Hartpury...If Ealing do not win the league this year (deliberately didn’t say get promoted) then Ben Ward needs to throw in the towel and look to do something else as career.

Nottingham 2 - 5 Ampthill - Depends if Notts have full contingent of Tigers playing Cornish Pirates 5 - 0 Richmond - Sarries could not win here last year on the opening day here . . . so it would be a similar seismic shock if Richmond pulled it off. London Scottish 0 - 5 Jersey - Reds normally start slowly but a strong pre season should serve them well. Coventry 5 - 2 Doncaster - Could go either way for these top 4 clubs. Ealing 5 - 0 Hartpury - Should be a good encounter it would not surprise me if Pury got something from this one.
------------- Run with it

Ealing team for 1500 tomorrow against Hartpury: A tidy team, and a lot of continuity from last year (if not preseason?) in the backs and centres. Up front I'm very surprised to see Gibbons/Campher/White, with Malton (nailed on last year when Walker went down) on the bench and Will Davis not even in the 23. Excited to see how Dylan Smith comes on - lots of experience in super rugby. Overall, should be enough to down Hartpury at home.
15 - D. Johnston 14- Kernohan 13 - Bodilly 12 - Howard 11 - Walker 10 - Willis 9 - Hampson 8 - Smid 7 - Uzokwe 6 - Al-Jiboori 5 - Casson 4 - De Wee 3 - Whye 2 - Campher 1 - Gibbons
Subs: 16- Malton, 17 - Smith 18. Thiede 19. Linsell 20. Northcote-Green 21. Burns 22. Bird Tolloch 23. Digby

Decent front row without being the absolute best Ealing can offer. Formidable back five in the pack with more to come off the bench. Great to see the Hampson-Willis brains trust return at 9/10. Not the fastest back five but highly skilful and a brick wall in defence (Hartpury will probably run in a hatful now I’ve said that!) Disappointing not to see an Ealing +30 win.
