Yorkshire play next weekend against Somerset at Hornets - I will be there and if any other board members will be, please let me know.
It is disappointing that Yorkshire only have two games this year.

I think the RFU have shown their feelings about the county championship by arranging the Papa Johns finals on the same weekend as the first round of the county championship. I know Easy Midlands were unable to pick some players as their teams were at HQ. Once again community rugby is not important.

In trying to find a match report I've seen the result as North Midlands winning 38-7 according to RFU and North Midlands sites.,but no match report.

Here is a link to the full page of results so far.
My knowledge of the County Champs is limited. Are Div 1 counties (Cornwall, Surrey, Kent etc) allowed to field more players from Nat 1 and Nat 2, and lower Divisions selecting from Levels 5, 6 and below? Or are all counties allowed to select from any level?

The North Midlands site is hard to find things. It mentions a win on Saturday and shows photographs but no report.

Yorkshire win both matches at Hull Ionians, Brantingham Park. Women's Team win 30-19, men's team 26-13, so both Yorkshire teams go to Twickenham.

Why? Or perhaps what sort of punishment do you mean?
This isn't Pro. They could have played and put players not good enough out. At that level it's dangerous.

I'm a. Bit miffed for Charlton park who were putting the game on , they're going through some tough times and having a cancellation of a big game for them sucks tbqh

Surrey were still playing last year’s team, only 1 from Level 3. Why?

Punishment as in automatic relegation to Div 2 or 3 (though maybe that's not needed given their current position would send them down anyway)

There's a thread on Kent Rugby FB which includes quite a lot of disgruntlement, as well as a post from Surrey outlining the reasons why they withdrew... (hopefully link below works)

Isn't it true that last season Surrey decided that the County Cup competition would consist of one game (Barnes v Esher) thus giving only one Surrey side the opportunity of winning the trophy - which they didn't and so the Surrey Cup currently resides in the London Borough of Richmond on Thames?
It seems they could give the RFU lessons in total incompetence!

To be fair, Surrey RFU covers the whole of the historic county of Surrey.
Aside from Cumbria, and therefore Lancashire, I think all the unions represent the traditional counties.
It is not just rugby, Surrey County Council was based in Kingston upon Thames - long after it became a London Borough, only moving to Reigate in 2020.

True, it is based on historical counties. Its why Kent are allowed to call on Blackheath and Westcombe Park Londoners to play.
I'd very much like to know how much of Surrey taxpayers money the council had to pay Kingston council for the building being there.

So they had even more teams to invite to compete in their Cup competition than the two they did ask!

Off topic but a bigger question is why Surrey County Council sold the building for £25m when the land is now apparently worth ten times that when developed.
