Predictions:
Doncaster 5 v 0 London Scottish - A hurting Donny to respond with a big win
Hartpury 1 v 5 Cornish Pirates - Pirates should have too much firepower
Jersey 5 v 2 Bedford - I think Bedford will get close but not close enough. High scoring game in prospect
Ampthill 1 v 5 Coventry - Cov should continue the momentum from yesterday here
Richmond 1 v 4 Nottingham - a tight game on the cards. Notts to sneak it

Doncaster 5-0 London Scottish. I expect the Donnies to kickstart their season here.
Hartpury 1-5 Cornish Pirates. Hartpury might score 4 tries but the Pirates will score more.
Jersey 5-2 Bedford. I anticipate a try scoring fest with home advantage pulling through.
Ampthill 2-5 Coventry. The As have scored 18 tries in four games so I expect this to be a high scoring game, but Coventry look to mean business this year.
Richmond 2-5 Nottingham. Whilst the season is played in Clement weather I forecast lots of tries, with Nottingham snatching the points.

Donny 5-0 Scottish - Banker home win Donny to run riot in the second half as Scottish fade
Hartpury 4-1 Pirates - I expect a handful of points in it but just favour home side
Jersey 5-2 Blues- Forward power v pace out wide, lots of tries and could go either way but at home Jersey to edge it - downhill in second half please
Ampthill 3-3 Cov - My game of the week, 5-2 either way more likely but I can't separate them
Mond 4-1 Nottingham - Two really well matched teams but at home Mond to take it

-------------
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

Donny 5-0 Scottish - Scottish looked like they weren't quite fully baked. Donny to put the Scottish pies in the oven, and then gobble them up.
Hartpury 1-5 Pirates - Hartpury looked better than I expected, but I think that was more poor play by Ealing than good play by 'pury. Pirates to put them to the sword.
Jersey 5-2 Blues-  Jersey to get off to a flying start, but expect lots of tries.
Ampthill 4-1 Cov - The mob defend the dell.
Mond 4-1 Nottingham - The mighty mond to grind Nottingham down at the RAG.

For any Blues fans visiting this weekend with time on their hands on pre-match on Saturday they might consider getting the bus to the Weighbridge and checking out the Norman Market which is open from 10am:
https://www.gov.je/Leisure/Events/WhatsOn/Pages/CornRiots.aspx#anchor-2" rel="nofollow - Corn Riots Festival in Jersey (gov.je)
The much vaunted Lamplighter is less than 100 metres away and regular buses from Liberation Station to the ground also less than 100 metres away.

Doncaster 5 v 0 London Scottish - Donny smarting and too good at home
Hartpury 4 v 1 Cornish Pirates - two evenly matched teams . . CP with a very young team
Jersey 5 v 1 Bedford - Home advantage, it should be a cracker
Ampthill 0 v Coventry 5 - Cov looking like the real deal
Richmond 0 v 5 Nottingham - Notts started well under Nottingham legend, they have the mojo and easily dispatched Richmond last season.

Thanks CC, will check it out, arriving Thursday Eve.  Will certainly be in the Lamplighter.  Mind you, will have another 10 days if I test + on arrival!

If the weather is good on Friday I can also recommend taking the No 22 bus to L'Etacq and try the Oysters or BBQ scallops with a glass of dry white at Faulkners in St Ouen - just down the hill from my place and a wonderful view:
https://www.faulknerfisheries.com/bbq-menu" rel="nofollow - Our Summer BBQ is back on! ā€” Faulkner Fisheries
then walk along South the beach to El Tico for a beer before getting the bus back into Town.
https://elticojersey.com/webcam/" rel="nofollow - Webcam El Tico St. Ouens bay, Jersey ā€“ El Tico Beach Cantina Jersey (elticojersey.com)
Always pay by card on the bus in Jersey they charge more if you pay in cash.

There lies the issue facing anyone wanting to get to a game in Jersey under current rules. I believe there is an option to take a PCR test 72 hrs before you travel and avoid the arrival test but adds extra cost to the trip. Adjacent Island Guernsey are scrapping PCR arrival tests from 4th October and replacing with LF Tests that you have to purchase at £25.

Abbotsman. Not sure the comparison with Guernsey is helpful; the two Islands have adopted significantly different strategies to combatting Covid & don't really see much benefit in going into the details on here.

Everyone arriving in Jersey since our border reopened on 3/7/20 has had a free test on arrival. The current situation is that test results take 8-12 hours but if you're double-jabbed you don't have to isolate until you get the result. Is there a risk you'll test +ve? Yes, sure, but the numbers are tiny, a handful per day out of a couple of thousand - there's risk in most things... paying for a PCR test before you come is an option, meaning that if you test +ve you don't come to Jersey and isolate at home - some people might prefer to 'do their time' here! Wink

In a hotel room 22hrs a day for 10 days? Not for me.
As for Guernsey I was wondering will Jersey follow a similar easing of rules?
Apologies for crashing the thread.

Hartpury 0 v 5 Cornish Pirates - CP to continue their good start
Jersey 4 v 1 Bedford - Bedford will have to practise their rolling maul defence (not holding out much hope)

Doncaster 5 v 0 London Scottish - It will take a while for LS's new recruits to bed in and Donny is always a tough place to travel to. Comfortable home win, but LS will improve.
Hartpury 0 v 5 Cornish Pirates - CP too strong simples!
Jersey 5 v 2 Bedford - So looking forward to this. Some friends from Bedford are coming over for the game and I think that it will be an absolute cracker, it go either way. Lots of points, lots of pints, great game...does life get any better?
Ampthill 1 v Coventry 5 - Coventry are a quality side and will be too strong for plucky Ampthill. Not a pushover though, Nottingham to win it in the last quarter.
Richmond 4 v 1 Nottingham - This could be close. Mond are a decent side and Nottingham can be inconsistent. Going for a tight home win, but could just as easily be a close away win.

Good luck everyone. No injuries please.

Radio Jersey covered about 95% of the away match with Scottish last week with the odd break to get score updates of Guernsey's match at Dings. I wasn't aware of a live streaming option for league matches although there was for the pre-season games with Tiggers & Sale.

Jersey      5 v 1 Bedford Jersey pack were impressive last week a couple of the backs were not Bedford know nothing
Ampthill   0 v 5 Coventry Good result last week for Coventry may be the team to watch
Richmond 4 v 1 Nottingham ā€“ The Mighty Mond cannot play as badly as last year against Nottingham still a close one to call

It does not look like there is a streaming option, shame as I would buy to see who comes up on top forwards v running rugby.  Heard Jersey had something like 3 maul tries and a pushover try, so it looks like we know what's coming!

It will be interesting on derby day in a couple of weeks, itā€™s an international break in football, no Luton or Watford, if 3CR have any reporter at the Ampthill v Bedford game. Last break Wycombe didnā€™t play due to player call up for opposing team. Even so, three matches should leave room for other sport.
