Be interesting to see what Tigers do. Last year it was widely considered to have been a mistake to go into the Bristol game "cold" with a week off after the earlier Prem Cup games. So we may bring back Liebenberg, Cracknell, Wells, et al to knock off any rust pre-Sale the week after. Or we might continue with picking the extremely young sides selected so far.

Is Cheika missing in action? (I haven't watched any of this competition) If so in previous years haven't Premiership head coaches handed the reins to assistant coaches?

| Yes Tigers have done it several times over the past 10 years (with fairly mixed results on the field, and no significant success in terms of developing coaches to take over as head coach). |

Nice to actually have a game of rugby to watch at Chinnor this season ! Chinnor fielded an experimental side and a full strength Cambridge side had the edge for large parts of the game, but errors led to four tries for Chinnor, and their line-out rarely functioned. All to play for in the second leg ! I saw somewhere, recently, that around 3000 had sold, and having just had a random scan around the website's ticket selector, I didn't find a single seat coming up as 'available'. I'm guessing there's still good standing availability, but I would also guess that people will need to be pretty quick, and turning up ticketless on the day may be fraught. It's a shame that the City are at home as there are many who support both clubs. The CBSA kick-off is early, mind, so there may be some who try to do both games, so I hope they have secured tickets to avoid disappointment as they only have around 30 minutes at best to get the three miles or so from the CBSA to the BPA in post-match chaos! ------------- Our Club |

Ealing Trailfinders to play London Scottish: Very strong side. Happy to see Bodilly and DeWee back from injury. Whyte not available thanks to disciplinary. Very harsh to get a 3 week ban for a yellow card where there was no forward momentum.

Have done some homework on Northampton Saints starting line up. ALL THE NAMED BACK DIVISION INCLUDING HALF BACKS,started the last league game v Bristol Bears ( remembering they were without their internationals). Overall of this weekends starting line up, 9 started v Bristol & 3 were on the bench. Cov Rugby at the BPA being taken seriously ! ------------- John Butler |

Really good result for Cov in terms of competing at that level though a shame they lost. Still proud of their performance though. Superb advert for the Championship sides!

I was one of the 5202 at the BPA today, and can barely remember us close again. There in the last few years. Northampton got the lead with a break-away try from there 15. Beating the Coventry line by speed on the Northampton 22 and racing the length of the pitch. For most of the first half and a good part of the second Coventry had the majority of the possession but couldn't take advantage of it. Northampton's pack could push in a scrum or a mall but didn't seem to have much of an impact in open play. Their backs though were very impressive. Had Coventry had a bit more luck with the kicking in the wet and windy conditions. There would have been a bonus point and a fair chance of equalling the game as well. Premiership refereeing on the example of today, would seem to require offloading before hitting the ground in the tackle. Penalties were given very very quickly for retaining the ball. Overall though a cracking game, especially considering the conditions and one that was worth sitting being rained on.

Great game ar GR, the Bedford defence was superb today, closer than the score line suggests, weather wasn’t too bad, bit of rain, but the direction of the wind meant the pitch was sheltered by the flats near by. Bedford deserved more, but that’s rugby, I’m tempted to say the difference was Alfie Barbery, who ran all day for Bath, overall happy with how we played, never gave up. 😁 ------------- I want you all to line up in a circle and pair up in three's alphabetically by height. |

Would agree with you over the comment re ground capacity Steve. Quite a day, great credit to the Cov forwards after losing Nairau at prop after just 2 minutes & then Kkwocha before half time, which really cut down the options regarding fresh legs etc. Quite a day though & both Cov & Saints fans present displayed once again what real supporting is all about. ------------- John Butler |
