I wonder what the development blind spot is. An 18/19 year old either breaks through at top level or doesn't. There are loads of clubs with playing opportunities for the majority that don't immediately break through. As they physically develop the players break through or don't.

I never thought the loan or d/r works in most cases,particularly when the parent club calls them back.. I'd prefer clubs to bring their own through. ------------- Cauliflower ear. |

Yes but some of those overseas signings maintain or set the standard to achieve.

Sure most of the "overseas players" give just as much as they take from playing in these islands. There are some southern hemisphere nations who would not have a national team without some. |

| We h ave been down this path before with the "A" league most Premiership clubs at the time could not raise a full squad for these matches which were usually mid week. They needed to call on players from clubs in lower leagues to enable them to fulfil fixture. In some cases to the detriment of these lower clubs I know of one instance where two players were returned to their clubs injured received no Physio from the Premiership club and were out for a number of weeks. |

This is more smoke & mirrors. You never get commitment from the academy teams and they now have you jumping through hoops for a DR so it’s not worth the effort for most. Then a lot of the youngsters that do come moan about the training time to get there and are only there because they are told to be there (not always the case). We have had some brilliant DRs over the years and we have also had some stinkers. IMO the problem off getting game time lies so.Ely at the academy’s door ------------- So many Christians not enough Lions |

And most just pick their pension up and maintain stability during International windows
