New competition logo https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/articles/c1mr0kgjk4ro" rel="nofollow - launched  "to encapsulate the "electrifying action" of the tournament"

I didn't know that the 6 Nations had a logo. One of the aims is to highlight the Men's 6 Nations as opposed to the Women's.

To that end it works but it's a rubbish design - I wonder how much the designers were paid! Confused

Absolutely Dreadful !
I sincerely hope teams don't have to wear the logo on their kit !

For the ordinary purposes of conversation, a superficial knowledge of many things goes further than an intimacy with one or two.

Design? Surely it was one of those primary school 'design a thing' competitions?
Lord knows how bad the losing entries were.

It's pretty woeful. Looks like something for a motorway service station.

I notice there's a new series of The Apprentice coming very soon.

I suspect this was one of the tasks.

Why the hell do they need to spend god knows how much money on an awful 6 nations logo ?
To make the tournament  stand out from the women's?
I think we know the difference between the two !!! 🤦🏼‍♂️

What a waste of time and money.

The M is redundant and the code liver oil pill behind it looks ridiculous.

Personally I'm surprised anyone wants to prominently label anything "Men's" or "Women's" nowadays.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/articles/c77j2k5nezxo" rel="nofollow - Feyi-Waboso could miss entire Six Nations with shoulder issue

Quote
England could be without wing Immanuel Feyi-Waboso for the entire Six Nations as the Exeter star decides whether to undergo shoulder surgery.

The 22-year-old dislocated his shoulder in the defeat by Sale on 21 December, with Chiefs coach Rob Baxter warning at the time the injury was "not ideal for ourselves or for England".

Baxter says the winger has surgery booked in for early next week, should he decide to undergo the procedure.

If Feyi-Waboso does have an operation he will miss all of the Six Nations, whereas if he opts not to have surgery, he could potentially participate in the final part of the tournament.

"It's an ongoing process at the moment involving Manny, our medical team and the England medical team," Baxter told BBC Radio Devon.

"The shoulder isn't going to rehab for the full Six Nations campaign. England go off into camp in not very long.

"He's barely started his rehab process really as the to-ing and fro-ing over whether he has his rehab is slowing both options down - it's slowing the operation process and the rehab process.

"The big thing at the minute is the decision will be made. It can go one way or the other and that will give him a clear reference point for what he is aiming for. Is it the end of the England Six Nations campaign? Or is it post-Six Nations, getting ready for a big end to the season that will help him drive his claim for the Lions if that's a possibility?"

Perhaps also interesting to this forum is the fact that Ellis Mee (ex Nottingham) is going very well for scarlets and might make the Wales squad for the 6 nations.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/articles/c17erz1n5j1o" rel="nofollow - Six Nations to use 20-minute red cards for first time

Quote
This year's Six Nations will use 20-minute red cards for the first time.

The trial was in place for the Autumn Nations Cup in November and has been extended to this year's men's, women's and Under-20s Championships.

Lawmakers say the 20-minute red card is designed to "punish the player and not the team", with sides able to replace a dismissed player after 20 minutes.

The men's Six Nations starts on Friday, 31 January with France hosting Wales in Paris.

While referees are still able to award a full and permanent red card for "deliberate and dangerous acts of foul play", the 20-minute red card constitutes a major change to rugby union's disciplinary process.

...

Meanwhile, the release of the fixtures for the 2026 Championship has been pushed back as discussions continue over a new broadcast deal, with the current tie-up with BBC and ITV expiring this year.

Conversations are ongoing with broadcasters as the Six Nations and its unions balance up the extensive reach of free-to-air partners with the revenues they can offer, with sources close to the situation stressing all options are being explored.

A revamped fixture schedule, with more evening kick-offs, is on the table with the Six Nations prepared to adapt to the preferences of broadcasters.

A "Super Saturday" taking place every weekend of the men's Championship has also been discussed, while Six Nations bosses are also keen to limit overlaps with other key sporting events.

From next year, the tournament will be cut from seven weeks to six weeks, with just one rest week rather than two.

This will probably result in a block of three games at the start of the Championship, then a break week before the tournament concludes on back-to-back weekends at the start of March.

Have to say I'm not a fan of the 20 minute red card.  People say that red cards ruin games, but I didn't think that the World Cup final nor last year's Premiership final suffered as a result of one side losing a player in the first half.  And while the permanent red card is still an option, I feel that the team of officials will always err on the side of caution - much like referees refer contentious decisions to the bunker rather than making a split-second on-field decision in case it 'ruins the game', they are now inclined towards the 20 minute red instead of the full dismissal.

An example from the autumn was where Semi Radradra received a 20 minute red which was retrospectively upgraded and he got a three week ban.  Surely at that point the review bunker has to be working behind the scenes to make sure that the correct decision is reached by the on-field referee - although that only applies in Tier 1 internationals and top-flight games, and won't work if the 20-minute red is implemented in the Championship and National Leagues or the tier 2 international competitions.
