Well, they are releasing the leagues for levels four and five, so they think they know who is playing at those levels.
I assume National 1 will go one short if Wasps fold - the league with most travel and least support - or are the RFU going with the idea of adding RFU Barbarians sides to make up the numbers.

We've got the dates for the season's fixtures at L5, but not the fixtures themselves.

The make up of Level 6 leagues also announced . My friends at Stockton have 4 coach trips to Cumbria to enjoy and pay for, which will be a factor in deciding whether to enter PJ cup next season (if there is one).

Given this was posted under 'clubhouse chat' I'm guessing it refers to level 3 and below. The Championship fixtures are usually a bit later and given the continuing uncertainty over the make-up of the 2nd tier, they're probably a little way off yet. Wasps' latest deadline is the end of May, according to yesterday's Times article...

There is a problem with the Cumberland clubs, there are not enough of them at this level to be a league of their own, and they are a long way from anywhere.
Either the East coast clubs have to travel cross-country, or the Lancastrian clubs have to head up the M6.
I do not know which is easier, but the Lancastrian clubs had been squeaking for a long time.

I wasn’t trying to suggest that travelling across country was a big issue. The lads like a day out and the Lakes is not a bad place to go. However, clubs have to find money to pay for a bus and it’s approx £1k a trip. Of course, the Cumbrian clubs have to make twice as many cross country trips .

Enough to make it clear as day to everyone that if you are one of the Premiership Old Boys Club members or (nearly) an RFU founder member, then they will bend over backwards to try and save you.

NCA AGM tomorrow, is it not? You would have thought that some relevant issues might be raised there. I hear there could be news about promotion from Nat 1 to Champ at end of 23/24 season. And it might not be very welcome news.

10 + 10 = 20 (presumably in the new funding agreement)
whereas currently 11 + 12 = 23 ?

LI goes bust = 10 @ T1 End of 23-24, 2 drop from T2 to T3 and none go up from T3 to T2 = 10.
Of course, that does all rather depend on there being 10 "solvent" clubs in T1. And news from the NE isn't good on that front. When I say "solvent", maybe I mean "going concern" clubs, because solvency is far too easy to manipulate as an idea whereas for going concern you have to have an accountancy firm sign off on you. Or maybe that's no better. What a farce.

To be fair we are only ten clubs short of having ten solvent clubs in the Premiership.

I half imagine the RFU releasing Championship fixtures 12 June, 4 months before the league commences.
The Premiership/Championship Cup will be 7th August…a month before.
Although I doubt they could be that crazy.

That's what the cup was meant to compensate for. But it's even more ridiculous having the team that is the furthest southeast from last year being moved into central.

The fixture for the Mens leagues have now been published with Women’s league being published on June 23rd. There is , as you quote, some leagues with missing fixtures yet to be added. Yet there is no mention of Championship fixtures. Does this mean, old cynic that I am , that the RFU are no longer in charge of the Championship fixtures? Is it now down to PL ? When are we due to get these fixtures? Also, on the RFU website there are, according to my jaundiced eyesight, now three Premiership Pool groups only. Has this changed yet again?

The RFU is still in charge of the RFU Championship. Clubs in the Championship were told a couple of weeks ago that next season's fixtures wouldn't be out today. Towards the end of June is the target, we understand, which roughly matches the usual timing in recent years...

I think the Premiership/Championship Cup fixtures should come first.
------------- The older I get, the more the RFU leave me confused.

Maybe they got moved to Central? (which for some reason hasn't got their league out yet, either issues with LIARFC or Jersey travel issues?) |
Yes, that appears to be it. They're under SW rather than London.

The same time that Tunbridge Wells (in Kent!) became South Central!

I think a cub in each league sees it every season. But any one club only sees it once every n years, where n is the number of teams in the league.
Something seems to have gone wrong with my usual account.

Each club has 2 consecutive home & 2 consecutive away in a season. Take N2E, BSE home first two games, Henley home second two. Worthing away first two games but home last two games of the year. BSE are away for the last two games of the year etc. etc.

That's correct Tyke, it is how the fixtures are formulated.
You also play the same team the first and last match of the season.

Not sure that's right. We seem to get the two home, two away set every season. We have the interesting position this season of having 8 Home matches before Christmas and only 5 afterwards. That will mean some careful cashflow management!

Everyone gets two in a row at home and two in a row away at some point in the season.
One team gets the first two games at home. One team gets the first two away.

Agreed, Worthing are away the first 2 games for the 2nd year running.
Obviously an advantage if you win them but not if you don't.
