On 11th Feb 2024 I posted the following:
"76 pts scored at Brantingham Park yesterday, resulting in a draw which neither Club wanted.
Two average teams trying their best to get a win, in a match which was ruined by the penalty count. Mr Jones' interpretation of what is a high tackle is different from every other ref we have seen this season and, as a consequence, the game was littered with needless penalties. Mr Jones was nothing but consistent in his poor interpretation and he capped it by Yellow carding the smallest, lightest lad on the field because he dared to try and hold someone up in the tackle. Pathetic really.
Be sure, Mr Jones will continue to ruin games unless his superiors have a word with him."

Billingham were back last Saturday and so was Mr Jones. I can assure you that no one has had a word with him.
This time around, we managed a win, despite the enormous penalty count and the usual flurry of yellow cards from Mr Jones. Game ruined again but 5pts in the bag.
Some may argue that we know what to expect from Mr Jones and that we should act accordingly. This is easier said than done when no other ref we come across ref's a match like Mr Jones does.
Still can't understand why we are allocated a 'Teesside' ref when we play Billingham at home?

Who’s your money on this weekend Greenpower? Leeds or Sheffield?

Leeds won by a point at Abbeydale but for some reason I think Sheffield might edge this one.
