So looking on web sites we have the following - the numbers are a simple count of those listed. I have not double checked they are up to date with all signings departures. It does not count academy players. | Doncaster have 32 in the squad, the two you couldn't count because they don't appear on the website yet are Will Holling and Sam Pocklington both players have signed pro terms from the academy |

I suspect that you have used the players page on the Bedford Blues website. These are last season's players. So far I believe a figure of 25 would be nearer the mark for the coming season. |

Nottingham website is seldom updated much before the season starts. To be honest I would rather we allocated resources to getting the team ready to compete in our predominantly professional league over updating the website for folk like me who check it everyday just in case... ------------- Forever Green. |

IMO a good up to date web site is essential. Any prospective sponsor is likely to look at this as an extension of advertising of their business, if it isn't kept up to date then people stop looking at it. Sadly many clubs fail to even get the basics, results updated on a weekly basis. ------------- RAID ON |

If you are a small sponsor you don't really care, it is more like giving money to charity, as it is the done thing in the town (certainly Bedford anyway). If you are a major sponsor you will be in the know before the fans are.

| Slightly different "ready for the new season" angle, but I was at Trailfinders today, and I made it a point to check out what has been done during the offseason. Now, there's still some time to go before the first preseason game, but I was a bit disappointed to see no indication of any additional bar under the new stand, which is what had been rumoured last year. However, the grassy area that used to be used for overflow car parking is now completely paved, and marked off as a proper parking area. That probably triples the paved parking space that was previously available. I'm not sure that you can fit any more cars, but it will be easily accessible in all weather, and the new stand should protect them from Peter Lydon's boot. |

| The Mennaye pitch has been dug up, new drainage put in and re-seeded. It's looking good, despite the lack of rain (until yesterday when it hammered down). Pirates start with three away games, so plenty of time for it to be ready for the first home game. |

The underside of the new stand is being worked on . I am not sure what is being built but rumour was additional WC`s and a bar. There is a new Ealing Trailfinders Pro team gym behind the Damian Bugeja Stand, opposite end to the new stand. It is three times bigger than the pro side gym and allows a specialist `recovery gym`! to be used within the original gym area. ------------- Ambition should be made of sterner stuff. |

If that has ever been a rule, it is ridiculous. 1) if the team plays predominantly in white, their 2nd kit would be very similar. 2) I would have thought a teams 2nd kit should be a single colour which is nothing like their first kit ------------- RAID ON |

In our first season in the champs it was suggested our away kit should be mainly white....sadly we now seem to be going the way of wendyball ------------- If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room |

I believe that the current guidelines on kit state that a club’s alternative kit should be predominantly different from their first-choice kit. Clubs no longer need to have a ‘home’ and ‘away’ kit, they can if they wish, the alternative being, first-choice and second-choice. The overriding consideration is that the kit on the team playing away should be a complete contrast to the home team. The RFU process is straightforward, imho. I believe the premiership had that rule. But it was never in RFU regulations. I see no reason for a side to wear anything other than their main kit, unless there is a clash. And as long as the change strip does not clash with the clubs main strip - they should have a shirt they can wear. ------------- Sweeney Delenda Est |

oh my - just saw Pirates new strip. Away is purple and home is red. The away kit has a fade effect where it darkens to black towards the bottom. With the black shorts being worn with it in the picture, it looks like they have strangely high waistlines.

starting to get excited about the prospect of a rugby fest. RWC starts Friday, Championship Cup starts on Friday (although we don't play until Saturday) and got my flights & hotel booked for Bedford on the 1st February. Only 2 more big sleeps until it all starts!!!!  BRING IT ON BABY !! |

| Going back a while (FDR days?) the change kit had to be 'light' if the home kit was 'dark' (and vice versa) and a different colour…..which seemed sensible as it covered most eventualities including visual impairment, colour blind, TV etc...…...not quite sure when/why that one went - or indeed if I'm just imagining it... |

We have had similar in N2 with Worthing in Dark Blue and Yellow hoops and Henley in Dark Green and Yellow hoops, virtually indistinguishable. In fact in one game both teams changed at half time (presumably at referees request) so Henley should always have been in their change kit as the away side. ------------- RAID ON |

It was crazy. There was quite a bit of mud to add to the mirkyness. But it was both first team kits. Not a change kit clashing with a first kit. |
