Going to Yorkshire, between Skipton and Leeds, for a holiday - looking for a match to watch whilst we are there. We definitely will not be going to YC's game - probably going to Otley v Stourbridge (N2N) instead - proper club  ------------- RAID ON |

I'm not prepared to pay money to that 'organisation'. IMO they have treated players, supporters and suppliers with contempt. I will be attending Otley v Stourbridge in the expectation of a better game at a real rugby club. As I said - my opinion and I'm entitled to it. ------------- RAID ON |

Hartpury 1-5 Jersey Hoping to see a good game and a Jersey win - Can the ringers wear their home club socks please? Yorkies 1-5 Pirates Could be like watching Christians v Lions but I hope YC pull together a competitive squad and make a game of it. Trailfinders 5-0 Ampthill very comfortable home win Ealing are a class outfit Coventry 5-2 Blues Tie of the round which could go either way and should be a bumper crowd I would have loved to see this one on the way back from Hartpury. Scottish 5-1 Nottingham Two really well matched teams who like to attack with ball in hand. Home advantage just puts my prediction in favour of Scottish Falcons 5-0 Doncaster Knights At home with a strong team selection I go for the Barcodes but Donny could beat them at Castle Park. ------------- Dont kick it. Hartpury 0 - 5 Jersey - Reds to beat up the college kids before they bring in the ringers at the start of the league campaign. Leeds 0 - 10 Cornish Pirates - Grudge match. the score will be so high that they'll award Pirates double points. ET 5 - 0 Ampthill - Only concern is a lack of props for Ealing. Still enough skill in the backs to win comfortably. Coventry 1 - 4 Blues - Blues to carry across a strong final ten minutes from last week. LS 1 - 4 Nottingham - Nottingham well rested after their game against Nat2 side last weekend. Newcastle 5 - 0 DK - Newcastle too strong for Donny.

Kimbo I know that you have graciously accepted the ongoing presence of Wasps in Coventry  However I cannot believe that Leeds will continue to use the name Yorkshire. If the announced this then this would go someway to healing the rift with the other Yorkshire clubs particular us in Doncaster

Sadly the Army has made a tactical withdrawal, and instead Coventry Nighthawks will be playing an Ampthill XV. It should still be an entertaining afternoon, with the serious business starting at 4pm. I just hope that Sir can keep up with both teams' speedy approach on the new pitch.

I think that's the least of our worries at the moment! Moreover, I'm sure some learned soul, way back in these discussions, said that any proposed change of name had to be approved by the RFU well before the start of the season. We are stuck with Yorkshire Carnegie for this season and after that it may all be irrelevant. ------------- That's easy for you to say. |

Hartpury 0 - 5 Jersey ... I am expecting Jersey to be too strong for the hosts this season. YC 0 - 5 Pirates ... Should be a very comfortable and large away win. ET 5 - 0 ... Ealing to prove that they will be the team to give Newcastle a run for their money this season and will be too strong for the newbies. Cov 2 - 5 Bedford ... I agree with others. This could be a stonker of a game. High scoring, too close to call, my gut tells me Blues. LS 1 - 4 Nottingham ... Good win for LS last week and I think that they will come close again this week. Nottingham slight favorites. Newcastle 4 - 0 Doncaster ... This will be tight for the first hour with Newcastle just turning the screw in the last quarter. Good luck everyone. |

Ealing Trailfinders team to play Ampthill on Saturday 28th September at Trailfinders Sports Club in Round Two of the Championship Cup: I have to say that this team underlines the depth of Ealing this year. Looking at the names, I didn't realize at first how many quality players weren't in the match day squad. Missing Reid, Dickinson, Lydon, David Johnston and more, and still I'm 100% comfortable and confident of this line up being able to handle Ampthill. Also interesting to see that Hartpury RFC ( having previoulsy been called Hartpury University RFC) are now called Hartpury University RFC . . can anyone explain? Leeds team might well struggle again this week against a CP side that failed to impress at LS last week. They were previously called Hartpury College, not Hartpury University. It was an agricultural college before it gained pretentions. Hartpury College is now called Hartpury College and Hartpury University. I’ve not bothered to read enough of their website to determine quite what the distinction is |

tweeting away today Brizz & you weren't even following!  brief summary: Full-time: Hartpury Uni 13 Jersey Reds 24. A decent display by the visiting side for their first competitive win of the season. Playing into a tricky wind we scored first-half tries from Slowik & Williams but the hosts crossed late on to make it 8-12 at the break. The win was secured thanks to second-half tries from Van Dam & Williams' 2nd (the latter after an intercept & 95m sprint to the line). Hartpury crossed with a few mins to play but it was too late & a fairly comfortable 0-5 win on points for our side...

There were several imports in the Carnegie side today, although not clear whether loans or D/R (from the commentary). Didn’t sound like there was much of a crowd from the Radio Cornwall feed. The lunchtime kickoff will have deterred potential travelling Pirates support. |

| ET 43 - 5 Amp. Ealing squandered probably 6 or 7 further scoring chances within the 5 meter line due to knock ons. Two or three clean breaks with unnecessary dropped passes as well. Probably the least impressive 43 - 5 win that you could imagine. Ampthill look like a team that should be able to stay up with Leeds in the mix. |

| My thoughts on that game are that I’m not really fussed about the result. Yes losing 57-0 was disappointing but i didn’t expect Donny to win at Falcons. Newcastle will be very hard to beat this season. I don’t see them losing much. |

| At Coventry we only have one player on our books to return after the RWC - David Halaifonua, who got so close to scoring before being shoulder barged out today f play on Saturday. Given the current performance of our FB and wings he’ll get into the team on rotation, but will have to fight hard to make a position his own. |

Ahh...yes. I wanted to mention two things for folks travelling to Vallis Way this year: 1. Ealing council, in its infinite Wisdom, has reduced all roads near Vallis Way to 20 mph, and they are enforcing vigorously, so drive slowly. 2. Trailfinders built a nice new toilet block underneath the new stand. My daughter tells me the ladies is much nicer than in the older block. |

My recollection is that 4 bonus points were awarded for guessing the winner of all matches correctly, and 10 bonus points if one guessed the exact outcome correctly on all matches. We had some good predictors this weeks.

I was very much fussed around the result, we didn't send our A team and then we got stuffed. Real happy to have blown £40 - a few boys stood up and were counted and when I see them I will tell them so. Yes Newcastle looked good, but we made them look even better by not running out a strong squad - "We are taking the cup seriously" so said the DoR - Yeah Right....... ------------- Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny! |

This. People pay to see these matches. They deserve to see something competitive. These non-competitive matches are surely driving down the attendances, which isn't good for anyone. As an example. I was having a good chat with a keen Ampthill supporter down at Vallis Way on Saturday. He guessed that there weren't even a dozen folks from Ampthill at the match, and he said that they knew they'd get thumped, so people hadn't seen the point.

Apparently about 200 at West Park for the Pirates match. Not sure what WPL's normal attendance is - or how many stayed for the competitive match. Apparently Roundhegians won that 22-34. There isa problem with RWC being in september and October - it will disrupt the Northern Hemisphere season. France on the other hand seems to expect its clubs to cope and is playing through. ------------- Sweeney Delenda Est |

| I do believe some teams not taking the cup seriously is affecting attendances, even when there is a match between those who do. Scottish saw 750 for the first home game of the season.... Regardless of this over the moon with how we've started the season. Squads looking a lot stronger and drilled than in years gone by. |

| Well we were told Blues were taking the cup seriously but it looks like an extension to pre-season the way we are playing, with our thin squad already looking down to the bare bones. One to come back from the World Cup (Hooley - hopefully not too injured) and who knows if we get any DR's. Looking like a long season of struggle to me..... |

I think clubs say they are taking it seriously as it is the done thing, as it would likely be frowned upon to say we aren't focusing on the cup....never mind the Blues will be back on form soon enough. ------------- Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny! |

Ampthill, who didn't play any pre-season games, are pretty obviously using the Cup as their pre-season. Not sure of the logic of that but I suppose it is because they are purely focusing on the league and not ending up in bottom spot and everything else bends to that goal. ------------- Propping up the board |

| From what I heard Ampthill we’re doing a full rotation on the squad, regarding Kwaku he scored 2x in the Bedford derby and named star man, I’m not too sure it was right for cov to let him go, I can see him scoring a few more with ball on hand |
