Will, who is well known at Donny and Cov, has suffered a stroke following his recent head injury.

I'm sure we'd all join together to wish him a full recovery.
Rugby takes second place at times like this.

Desperately sad news about Will, ‘ Mr Action.’  Was , and still am, a big fan.    Hoping for a swift and successful return.
As Kimbo says, it’s a times like these that rugby takes a back seat.

OMG, this is really sad news, thinking of Will and his recovery.  At his time at Donny one thing that shine through was his fighting spirit, come on Will you can come through this.

The more general point about this awful news is that he suffered two (maybe three) really nasty head/neck injuries in that game.  One was a shocking tackle by a player it isn't helpful to single out but received no attention from the officials.  Not just from a disciplinary perspective but mainly from a player welfare perspective.  The second one was an injury in a playing incident.  The odd thing is that there was no HIA for either incident and I genuinely hope that wasn't a factor in the seriousness of the outcome.  But given the supposed focus on head injuries I don't feel he was handled appropriately.

On a brighter note he's a great example of how determination in the Championship can see a player progress.

The Bristol web site says he was struggling with concussion last January. No doubt he'll get expert neurological advice.

Message from Will he put on Facebook earlier this evening:

“So, I just wanted to let everyone know about my situation as I have had many supporting, kind and worried messages from you all.

In my last game I played for Bristol against Leicester I received a head injury, which turned out to be a stroke, an infarction of the artery on my left temporal lobe (for any scientists 😂). It’s been a tough 6 weeks but the support I have received has been unbelievable. In Particular my parents and the RPA who have helped me through every step of the way. I am feeling better but still severe headaches, memory loss and panic attacks. I will try to reply to everyone but thank you for all your kind messages. I do not know what the future holds but I am feeling positive whatever that is. Thank you all and sorry if I don’t reply straight away!”

Just read this news about Will; very sad and also reminds us of what the players risk.  A very influential player and great to watch, the ‘wrecking ball’.  Get well soon Will.
