Ealing Trailfinders team to play Jersey Reds in the Championship Cup Quarter Final on Saturday 22nd February: Slightly constrained by new recruits not being cup tied, this is a solid side. Excited to see big Dave back in the starting lineup.

Yes, I certainly miss Dave McKern. Top bloke and one of the best lineout jumpers in the league IMHO. He will be fired up for this one.

Jersey are still ravaged by injuries, although we have had a few players back. A light bench though, in the backs at least.
Great to see a quality hooker coming in to provide some cover, but another area of worry at a crucial stage of the season.

Backs (15-9)

Auguy Slowik
Alex Morgan
George Spencer
Rodney Iona
Leroy Van Dam
Brendan Cope
Will Homer

Forwards (1-8)

Harry Morley
Reece Marshall
Zei Alexis
Kyle Hatherell
Rory Bartle
Max Argyle
Conor Joyce (capt)
Janco Venter

Replacements (16-23)

TJ Harris
Roy Godfrey
Alec Clarey
Liam Hallam-Eames
Jake Upfield
Josh Bainbridge
Luc Jones
Aaron Penberthy

I sense a cunning plan in Jersey's selection - not the usual one whereby they move their starting scrum half to the back line in the second half although they may still do that anyway - but the one whereby they hold back on the bench the players (like Upfield & Clarey) who have showed some decent form in recent weeks and hope they don't have too big a mountain to climb when they come on as impact subs with super Penbo. Dave is bound to have a monster of a match - he always gives 100% - I will leave him some St Ouen Jersey Royals with his good lady to enjoy after the match.

A very strong team with Sam Dickinson and Harry Casson on the bench and sitting beside them Steven Shingler and Craig Hampson . Shane Buckley has forced his way into the team and is playing very well with impact tackles and strong carries.

This game in my opinion with revolve around who gets the upper hand in the scrums and lineouts. Ealing have probably the two best second rows in the league available from the bench. This could be the deciding factor and I am expecting a tough contest from Jersey and believe it will be very tight indeed.
