1. Reduce Payments to the Premiership.
2. Reduce England team budget
The RFU only paid for 21 flights for a 20 player squad to go to Guernsey when at Level 4.  How many travel with the England team?  Yet it's still 15 v 15 on the field, same game.
3. Don't all drive around in sodding great Mitsubishi trucks.  Save the planet at the same time.
4. Don't waste any more money on Twickers.
5. Cut RDO's.  What do they do?  Only ever see ours at a meeting where he spouts Twickers claptrap.
No idea how a rugby club is run as he's never had to run one!
6. Employ one person with IT skills to sort the website and GMS, that's all it needs.  Don't base them at Twickers so you don't pay London wages.

Over to you!

Least of the problems I would say ...... two biggest points for me

1) Extortionate salaries of the top people i.e. Ian Ritchie was on £750,000, you can bet Bill Sweeney is on something similar, that for running a company that has no competitor, how much pressure can there be to run a company that has a monopoly?

2) Funding to PRL, obscene ....

Agreed Clive, however there is something wrong when the governing body is on a gravy train of benefits when grass roots rugby is being decimated.

They could increase the price of tickets for internationals. They are far too reasonably priced at the moment.

That's easy for you to say.

Oh and another thing ....

Reduce the appearance money for Test matches, last I heard it was £16k per player, whether you got on the pitch or not ...

So that's £368k per game, reduce it by 50% and that would save £1.5 million a season on a normal 8 game season, 6N + AI's .....

Normal price is above £1 per minute - has to be near the top people will pay, bearing in mind that a lot of that time the ball isn't in play.

Have a look at the disciplinary panel members on the Governance pages They are loads of them and an awful lot of QC's who dont get out if bed for less than £800 per hour

Why on earth do they need that many people at that kind of pay level and why QC's

Use the hot air generated by some of the self proclaimed experts on here to supply free electricity to every club in the land and still have a substantial reserve left to sell on to the market.

I am not one to blast the blazers (or the poor old RDOs). I imagine most of them have put a lot of time, effort and their own expense into the game over the years and if they get a few perks here and there, it is a drop in the ocean compared to what the RFU give to 13 clubs. That is where the real savings come from.

As Jeff Probyn said in the Rugby Paper the RFU don't need to play the Premiership clubs anything, but still have the right to players for games. As he pointed out (and supports the view I have expressed here and elsewhere) players need International rugby to boost their worth (and wealth) at club level and with commercial sponsors.

The sheer amount of money the RFU pays the Premiership clubs for access to about 50 players each season does not make commercial sense. If the RFU really care about the commercial value of the game, then they should show it by reducing the amount of money paid to the Premiership clubs at the earliest possible opportunity.

Fact 1; The RFU pay PRL far to much money
Fact 2; The average wage at the RFU is ridiculously high
Fact 3; England players get paid far to much i.e. £16,000 for playing 80 minutes ... and then some of them sell their ticket allocation on the black market at outrageous prices i.e. 4 times face value!

Now, I'm no expert but I just point out where the RFU are paying extortionate money to the Elite game and keep telling the community game there is nothing left in the cupboard to pay them ..... if facts are hot air, then I plead guilty
