I can’t remember anyone else asking, and Someone has to be first, so it might as well be me to ask when the fixtures will be released for this season?

I thought someone mentioned on another thread it would be this week. Also on the lookout.

When all the clubs have finished their to-ing and fro-ing, probably.

Does anyone think it might have anything to do with scheduling (for the TV deal?)

No.
It might have a lot more to do with the RFU delaying, and then presenting the schedule to the clubs as a done deal for immediate release, and then the clubs saying "gjve us a little time to sort out local issues you've ignored first".

I imagine, we start same time as Premiership.

Over 7 weeks to go.

So wait until the August Bank Holiday 😂

Looking forward to new beginnings.

Statement released by Coventry Rugby today...

Season Memberships update – 19/07/21
Posted on 19th July 2021 by Chris Wearmouth

Coventry Rugby is giving supporters the following update regarding the announcement of Season Memberships for the 2021/22 season.

At the time of writing (Monday, July 19th, 2021) the club is still awaiting a confirmed Championship fixture list for the 2021/22 season. Until this is received we do not feel able to sell Season Memberships in good faith.

We are expecting that this information will be received in the next 48-72 hours and further announcements will be made in due course. Thank you for your patience!".

You've been fruit filtered.  Should have typed Hanc.ock.

CJB1, many thanks for putting me right, much appreciated. Can't understand why anyone could possible object to that name, unless a Scotsman still barking on about that try he scored at Murrayfield to win the Calcutta Cup (no he wasn't in touch!)?

Did Hanc.ock pay for Coventry?

The fruit filter doesn't restrict itself to whole words only.  And it sometimes fruit filters itself, with hilarious results.

Meanwhile, getting back on topic, thanks Islander for that update.

Coventry gave a slight clue to the finalised structure yesterday, when they announced season ticket / membership renewal plans. The ticket will include a guaranteed (as much as anything is guaranteed these days) two home cup matches. Now, by my reckoning, to get that there must be a group size of 5+, so it looks as if there may be a cup, with a group stage of 2x mini-leagues of 5 & 6 teams.
Certainly something to look out for at noon.

So keeping a cup competition that no-one has any interest in. They'll be telling us it's the result of a "compressive and wide ranging" survey next

Handshake TB that is highly likely

They'll be telling us that the clubs insisted on it to raise the number of matches without parachuting in a number of National League teams of a lower standard and no recent playing experience.

Good points.
League runs in a block.
Reserve weekends (CoVid friendly?).

A pity Bedford don’t have a derby over Christmas.

Cup competition at end of season…argh hopefully that’s the last one.

It is much better for us not to have a derby game, as it would be a sell out whoever we play.

To some extent it is a pity that you could not recreate a British and Irish Cup with the 6 Scottish semi-pro sides, the Welsh Premiership sides and the Irish Province's A sides.

I think the cost of taking a squad to Ireland with an overnight stay is crazy with no funding.

Do we think that the season is short to help the winner recruit?

In a word............ No!
It's just so they can have their much loved cup competition

The league season is short because there are only 11 teams, and they cant think beyond 2 matches, one at each venue.

What’s the problem with Christmas/New Years fixtures sides get better attendances then Bedford have there best attendance of the season normally 4000 regardless of the opposition

Yes, any team that has a bye should have a home game over that period!

I simply cannot wait to see the content of the so called Cup competition !!!! Clap All National League clubs already have fixtures, so once again it looks like a cobbled together amalgam of Championship sides.

Well, it sounds as if you'll have to wait a while. I don't think they're going to pull anything exciting out of the bag.

I did see that the Coventry season ticket offers two guaranteed home cup matches. To get that for all teams requires groups of at least 5, so I suspect it will be two groups, one of five, one of six, with the top two from each group going through to semis and a final

Any news on the cup competition and dates? My season ticket said that it includes 2 cup pool matches and the quarterfinal (if applicable), but I don't know what the competition actually is, or when it would be? Given how short the season is, is it just tacked onto the end?

Posted By: OldNick
Date Posted: 13 Aug 2021 at 11:20
No news anywhere.
Yes, just tacked on the end.

Our season tickets guarantee two home pool matches - which means groups of 5 & 6 asduming we only play each team once.

I'd expect details to be given out by HQ  in about February, on current form. After all, who there cares if dupporters need to plan travel?

My understanding is that it'll be tacked onto the end, so we can all just book holidays now and leave the rfu to stew in their ongoing incompetence.

(Slightly tongue-in-cheek, but it gets me that way).
