I've seen it quoted as 22 for Doncaster at FT elsewhere. Whichever way it doesn't seem to be the 5 away points everyone seemed to be predicting. Maybe 1bp?

Yes 39 - 22 Coventry FT. Great win for Cov, fair play. Donny need to get back to the drawing board for next week. Just going to leave the forum because my humble pie is ready…. 🥧

Back home on the computer. To paraphrase another fan - that was the dullest 8 try victory he'd ever seen. Burns' sniping try from half way was electric as usual, but otherwise both teams scored through, penalty, penalty, short range try. Again, and again. Ealing got the job done and got the five points that they needed. A couple of 50:22 kicks were tried, but I don't believe any came off.

Now thanks to the scheduling gods, next home match is on the 9th of October. Will feel very long.

Nah, we’ll stick with the cow pie thanks…. on a serious note that is a very disappointing result for Donny, hopefully Bodes gives them a rocket before next week. Wasn’t there but reading the tweets from Donny it seemed we were on the back foot for the last 50 minutes of the game, anyone there to confirm this?.

Coventry looked like they hadn't met before to start with (in major part probably due the number of late replacements from pre-season matches, then were outclassed by Donny for the next 20 minutes. From then on, Coventry got back into it for the last ten minutes of the first half, and dominated the second half.

I think Doncaster had borrowed the South Africa book of rugby tactics, slowing the game down and playing for penalties so they could kick to Cov's 5m line where they looked unstoppable.  I thought they actually played their best rugby when chasing the try bonus point near the end.

Cov were awful for the first 30 minutes but hit their stride in the second half - even the lineout worked well...

Predictions are notoriously wrong mate - Mine more than most - I'm sure a few of the Pirates & Donny lads would encourage me to predict their team would lose every week. It seems it was a cracking game at BPA today and with a different ref on a different day could have gone the other way - sounds like a typical Championship Rugby match between two good teams.

Thanks 728, but I'm sticking with 47: 7T + 3C + 2P

Or you can go with the BBC's dodgy maths...

It was exactly that. Both Donny second-half tries were completely against the run of play.
I was ready to slit my wrists for the first 30 minutes.

The importance of bonus points is clearly highlighted in this weekend’s results with Ampthill the only losing team to pick one up and therefore finding themselves in sixth spot.

Ah. This is where the 'early doors' comment really *does* hit its mark.
Never look at a league table after just one round of games Wink

Well actually the best time for an Ampthill supporter to look at the table is before any games have been played as we are always top…………..

I was there, and I have to credit Cov - yes they were on the back foot for the first twenty but then they switched their game plan and really started to dominate in areas, Donny made too many errors which inhibited them on the recovery (our front row didn't impress and I was hopeful they would) - in the end I thought we might squeeze a try bonus but to no avail. Well done Cov you deserved the points.

Hope there is a major shift, in style, for next weekend by Donny.
