Looks like an interesting season in store. It’s a pretty tasty fixture card next weekend as well: Friday 8th October: Hartpury v Coventry - 7.45pm Saturday 9th October: Doncaster v Jersey - 2.30pm Ampthill v Bedford - 3pm Ealing v Nottingham - 3pm Richmond v London Scottish - 3pm ------------- Donny Knights - best team in Yorkshire |

Predictions: Hartpury 4 v 1 Coventry - Coventry always seem to struggle in games like this, home win. Doncaster 2 v 2 Jersey - Genuinely don’t have a clue about this one. Jersey have had a week off, help or hindrance?. We’ll find out on Saturday. Ampthill 1 v 4 Bedford - The tough ones keep coming. Just fancy Bedford. Ealing 5 v 0 Nottingham - How much will Ealing’s confidence have been dented by the loss today?. Not enough for an upset in this one I don’t think. Richmond 4 v 1 London Scottish - Another absolute cracker of a game. A Cup final for both teams. I think Mond will claim the bragging rights. This is one of those rounds where I wish I could see at least 3 games. Genuinely don’t know what the MOTD is here, and yes, this is the week when I think there is a fair chance of a draw, maybe more than one. ------------- Donny Knights - best team in Yorkshire |

Hartpury 4-1 Coventry - I agree with Donnyknightfan. Coventry have a strong squad but they keep tripping up. Doncaster 4-1 Jersey - And after just three games I am predicting that no side will have a 100% record. Ampthill 5-2 Bedford - A big crowd, and another high scoring game. I just think the Ampthill forwards will score more tries than the Bedford backs. Ealing 5-0 Nottingham - Ealing at home will be too good for Nottingham. Or so they should be. Richmond 5-1 London Scottish - Richmond are a bit of a surprise package so far and I expect them to take the local bragging rights fairly easily. ------------- Always trying to stay bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. |

Hartpury 1-4 Coventry - Hartpury better than expected, but Cov too much. Doncaster 1-4 Jersey - Jersey seems to have recruited very well, and Donny have been a bit inconsistent. Ampthill 4-1 Bedford - Ampthill at home is a tough out, and they've generally had the upperhand in the Battle of Bedfordshire. Ealing 5-1 Nottingham - Still stinging from the loss last week, I think that Ealing will come out all guns blazing, but still leak some tries due to over aggressiveness. Richmond 5-0 Scottish - Scottish a work in progress.

Hartpury 1 - 4 Coventry … Tricky to predict this one. i think that Cov will have too much in the tank, but you just don't know at the moment. regardless, I think that it will be a close game. Doncaster 4 - 1 Jersey … Talking of close games. Rarely more than a few points between these two sides and more often than not it will be a draw. Battle royale up front. I have gone for home advantage in this one for no other reason. Wish I could be there! Ampthill 0 - 5 Bedford … Bedford up and running now (literally). I know that it is a local derby and the atmosphere will be electric, but I think that the Blues will turn it on. Ealing 5 - 0 Nottingham … The wounded animal to bite back and probably very hard. Richmond 4 - 1 London Scottish … Talking of local derbies, they don't come more local than this. Mond might just squeeze it, but I certainly wouldn't bet against LS opening their account for the season. Good luck all. ------------- Tackle Low!!!!! |

I would be really frustrated as a Jersey fan with this situation. You give your blessing for one of you best players to leave for the prem just before the season starts, only to see him play for one of your rivals for free. It’s logistically a bit more difficult but you’d think they would’ve loaned him back to Jersey.

I agree BM - that is one of the frustrations when we lose players to higher levls and then they go out on loan to other clubs - there should always be a clause that if the player is to go out on loan the club they left from should get first shout on having them back on loan. ------------- Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny! |

Hartpury 4 - 1 Coventry - very close Doncaster 4 - 1 Jersey - tight . . again could go either way Ampthill 2 - 5 Bedford - Blues with lots of Northampton quality to edge it Ealing 5 - 0 Nottingham - amazed if anything else Richmond 4 - 1 London Scottish - Huge pressure on both teams in this game to perform . . . Scots desperation for first win could help or hinder? Some really cracking games in great weather

Ealing Trailfinders team to play Nottingham rugby at 3p.m. tomorrow. This is a squad that has had huge turnover from last week. My assumption is that they got an absolute bullocking, and you can see that the whole front row that allowed itself to be pushed back over the try line for a penalty try has been swapped out. Also on the bench is De Wee after his outburst and yellow card. Passion can't be allowed to get that out of hand. Overall, I think this team should be plenty at home for Nottingham, but I'm concerned that the additions from the offseason don't seem to be making the impact that I would have hoped. With the exception of Digby, this is a last year's squad minus a couple of key players (Millar-Mills in particular). Does anyone know if Will Davis is injured? To be accurate, Voss was loaned to Cov four months after moving to WR. They'd obviously decided he wasn't going to make the grade as he subsequently signed forms at Cov. Richardson has only been brought in due to a long-term injury to prop Luc Jeannot which occurred a few weeks ago. None of it can really be described as 'exactly the same'. ------------- Our Club |

2 of the Saints spent over a decade at the Blues. There has always been a movement of players back and forth between the 2 clubs.

Personally, I have never had an issue with clubs getting loan players from Prem clubs. It is a 2 way street. Especially in these difficult times. Some of our better players move up and some of them, or others move back. The fact that a club has entered into a close relationship with a PL club should not be derided. These relationships give opportunity to Up and coming championship players as well as those in the PL fold who need game time to prove their worth. However, the strongest bonds are those made by sides who have a consistent playing staff throughout the season and team will always beat hired help….IMHO ------------- Tackle Low!!!!! |
